Chapter 1 Browser Configuration (Taking IE as an example)

This web page requires download and running ActiveX controls, therefore browser shall allow
download and running of ActiveX controls such that video image can be browsed. The setup
procedure is as below:

1. Open IE, and select Internet options under Tools menu.

2. Select Safety, and click on Custom Level here in.

3. Select Enable or Prompt from Download Unsubscribed ActiveX Control, Download

Subscribed ActiveX Control and Running ActiveX Control and Plug-in Board.

(Prompt message and declaration: In case of Prompt selected, browser will prompt you when
access image through IE for the first time whether to download ActiveX control or not, please select
Yes. It is strongly recommended for user to set Download Unsubscribed ActiveX Control to
Prompt, if not, some unknown websites or controls may infect your computer with a virus. If set to
Prompt, you can identify during download of a plug-in package whether it is known or from a
regular company (for example this software plug-in package). This company will be exempt from
the liability of the loss through downloads of any worm or inadvertent plug-in package or for any
other loss.)

Chapter 2 Operation Procedure of Supervisory Control Software

2.1. Enter Server's Domain Name or IP address

Enter server's domain name or IP address in this address bar, and then type in Enter to confirm,
it will be linked to the web server (for example, our company's domain name: http://www.dvrs.cn).
(Hint: For specific configurations of server, refer to Operation Manual for Server-Side)

2.2. Verify User's Identity

User: Enter user name prompted at server side (same as the access configuration at the client side,
see Operation Manual for Server Side for specific information), for the first time installation of the

system, User is admin (in lower case).

Password: Enter the password prompted at server side (for specific information refer to Operation
Manual for Server Side), and for the first time installation of system, the password is admin (in
lower case).
Port: connected to port provided by the server, this is configured by server side, and the default is
9600 (for details refer to Operation Manual for Server Side).
Prompt: After the first time use by administrator, user's authority shall be configured as necessary,
and account number and password shall also be modified for the purpose of improving the system
security. Both the default account number and password of system are admin (in lower case).
After completion of enter, click on Confirm button, system will access server to verify, and a wait
window pops up as shown in the following figure:

The icon in the center of the figure revolves, indicating communicating with server (connecting
time depends on network conditions. The access speed is very high since the interface of this
software is obtained immediately from the direct running of program, the download amount of data
decreases remarkably as compared with like products which use pictures. Generally identity
authentication and refresh of main interface can be done within 10 seconds).
If you properly type in the account number and password, and they pass the identity
authentication from server, the logon interface will be refreshed to the main control interface.

2.3. Introduction to Main Interface

2.3.1 Display Area

Main interface can be divided into 4 principal areas which are the image surveillance area,
server list area, function control area and cradle head control area.

2.3.1.1. Image Surveillance Area

Preview frame can be subdivided and adjusted through image surveillance area. Double click
on a frame to zoom in this frame till full screen; after linked to server, the preview window displays
the system time of monitoring picture of relevant channel, and the window displays video image of
one of the channels. If other channels' video images need to be monitored, just right click to switch
video channel, and click on button with number or other representations in control window, then the
image in display window will be switched over to this channel's video image. Double click the
frame of each channel may zoom in the image (For example, if you want to switch over the current
16 channels display to 9 channels display, then double click it will change to 9 channels display,
double click thrice the frame, then it will switch to full screen display of this channel's image.)

2.3.1.2. Server List Area

You could learn about the information on current server added through information display
area. When a "+" is unfolded, you can select one server; and when a "+" of server is unfolded, you
can unfold all of the display channels under this server.

2.3.1.3. Function Control Area

The control of such server functionalities as photo shooting, video recording, microphone
control, system setting and client side closing can be implemented through the function control area.

2.3.1.4. Cradle Head and Lens Control Area

The vertical, horizontal and automatic control of cradle head, as well as the aperture, zoom and
focusing of lens can be implemented through the control buttons of cradle head.

2.3.2 System Setting

The primary objective of system setting is to configure the server information.

2.3.2.1 Setting Server

Click on Setting on the upper left position of main control interface, and an access and
configuration interface shown as below will appear:

In the figure the number in red identifies 4 areas which are the server list display area, and add,
delete and confirm operation areas.

Server List Area

This area is intended for displaying the added server's name, server address, server's video port
and control port.

Add Operation Area

It is intended for adding new server configuration information.

1. Click on Add and a server information configuration window appears.

2. Fill in 8 server information configuration items as shown in the figure.

 Name: complete a name as you choose, make sure it is easy to memorize and able to identify
the characteristics of this server.
 Alias Name: complete a name as you choose, which can be identified by grouping, and easy to
quickly identify from numerous servers.

 Address: input herein is server provided INTERNET domain name or local area IP address. It
shall be properly filled in. Generally the contents filled in are the same as that filled in during
page access. For example the content herein we filled in is www.dvrs.cn （ This company's
domain name）. Address: click on it to list IP and domain name information of servers added,
select the address of a relevant server (and ensure that it can be linked only if this address is
valid and the server is enabled) Information indicated in list are all imported from the address
book for your choice.

 User Name: provided by server, the default herein is admin.

 Password: provided by server, the default herein is admin.
 Port: supervisory control port linked to server. The default port herein is 9600.
 Control Port: intended for controlling peripheral devices such as cradle head. If added, control
port can properly control peripheral devices such as cradle head. Upon the completion of all
configurations, if you click on image of each channel but the cradle head is still beyond control,
then it is likely the add error of this port's number.
 Maximum Channel Number: there are 4, 8 and 16 available for your choice, which are the
maximum number of server's supervisory control channels you can access. （If you select too
many channels it may influence the speed, generally the number is selected depending on
hardware configuration of network and this computer.）
After all are added, click on Confirm to save the information.

Delete Operation Area

Delete operation will delete the configured server.

Confirm Operation Area

Confirm operation will save server configuration. After server is added or deleted, click on
Confirm to save server settings, and a window shown as below appears:

2.3.2.2. Setting Disk

It is intended for configuring disk for storing video files and photographs grabbed. See the
figure below.

Information such as disk partition and storage space status of each partition, including detailed
information such as gross capacity, used space and percentage of each logic disk, will display in the
interface. You should select the disk partition storing video recording files and capture photographs
respectively in video disk setting and photograph disk setting.

Selecting Disk

There are multiple disks in the list. You can select each one of them to store your data. If a disk
is selected, a "√" will appear in the corresponding box; you can also re-click to cancel this selection.
Note: It is strongly recommended not to select the system disk.

Available Space

Available Space displays the remaining space available for use. If it is too small, it is
recommended not to select this disk for your storage.

Total Space

Total Space displays all space of the current disk (sum of space used and not yet used). It is
recommended to select a large capacity disk for your storage.

Confirm Operation

Same as the configuration of server. After disk is configured, it is required to click on

Confirm to save the configuration information.

2.3.3 Function Operation

2.3.3.1 Image Link

If server information is proper, then select one local channel display area (choice box

highlighted in red), subsequently click on the channel of server information in server information
list at right-hand side, double click on this channel to link this channel of image. The figure below
shows the link procedure of channel 02 of server selected.

2.3.2.3. Image Operation

The right side of each channel's image of the system is furnished with a control tool bar for this
channel's image which can implement Disconnect, Start Recording, Capture Picture and Speaker of
images. Video files and photographs grabbed are stored in the disk as configured in 2.3.2.2, for
further reference.

2.3.2.4. Cradle Head and Lens Control

If a cradle head controller is selected for the current channel, then this control board displays,
as shown in the figure, it comprises some buttons (The number of buttons
is subjecteto vary with the ability of cradle head controller selected ).The
implementations of operating functions to peripheral equipment of these
buttons can be user defined. Generally, the central circular button to
designed for startup or stopping the autorotation of cradle head, and 6
peripheral buttons are designed for control of aperture +/-, zoom in/out
and focus w/t.8 peripheral buttons are used respectively to control the

turning direction of cradle head. If it is required to keep the cradle head turning, press and hold the
direction button with the mouse till the cradle head is turned to the desired position.
Control operations of cradle head according to the arrow indications:
 【up】: To turn cradle head up;
 【down】: To turn cradle head down;
 【left】: To turn cradle head left;
 【right】: To turn cradle head right;
 【upper left】: To turn cradle head upper left;
 【upper right】: To turn cradle head upper right;
 【lower left】: To turn cradle head lower left; and
 【lower right】: To turn cradle head lower right.
The operations of camera lens according to the indications of icons respectively are:
 【focusing】: Press and hold left button is focusing "+", right button is "-", and release the
button is Close. Release the button is Close; focal length is the straight distance from
optical center of lens to focal plane, and it determines the visual range of lens;
 【zooming】: Press and hold left button is Zoom In, and right button is Zoom Out; and
 【aperture】: Press and hold left button to "+", right button to "-" , and release the button
to Close; aperture is intended for limiting the amount of light passing through the lens,
such that the photosensitive material can be properly exposed.

Chapter 3 FAQs

Prompt Message Box

This prompt message box prompts that your IE configuration fails. You need to reconfigure IE
according to the procedure as described in Chapter 1.

Password Error Prompt

You need configure the authority of server side, for details refer to Operation Manual for the Server
Side.

Long lasting "Connecting ......" in local channel play area

1. Reconfigure link-to server information; and

2. Check network for disconnections.
