BY
LOIS LOWRY

Introduction:
The Giver by Lois Lowry presents a society
where there are no differentiated rights and no
freedom to express ones’ differences. Everyone
experiences the world of “sameness.” Upon the
completion of this unit, students will have a greater
appreciation of their society, their freedoms, and how
their history and “memories” influence the present
and the direction of the future.
