As the school leader, I took all the responsibility of opening a new school with
the systems? 4th and 5th grade staff and students. The goal of the school was t
o provide a magnet or charter school experience for all students. I was able to
research best practices as the Principal for a year prior to the school?s openin
g. The curriculum highlighted math, science, and technology. The focus was on pr
oviding students with an interdisciplinary education offering real life hands-on
experience, acceleration, and accurate remediation differentiated to address in
dividual students skill gaps. I directed the Response to Intervention process an
d purchased remedial technology programs after careful research. When money was
a barrier to purchase innovative curricular aids and equipment I wrote grants an
d received over $160,000 dollars worth of money in the years of 2007-2009.
I was in charge of monitoring and maintaining a safe, healthy, peaceful environm
ent conducive to learning. I balanced the classrooms and scheduled innovative p
rograms that both helped students and increased FTE funding. I also monitored th
e achievement, practices, and attendance of students and teachers. I reviewed al
l curriculum, instructional practices, student work products, and test data to i
nsure that the students received the quantity and quality of education so that t

tion, and vocabulary development though rich experiences designed to engage and
enrich each after school learner. Developed a partnership with the Bremen Parks
and Recreation Department to provide enrichment programs such as art, music, pot
tery, acting, and cooking. During my leadership, the after school program increa
sed enrollment by more than 100 students. We used ?20 extra day money?, Title 1
funds, and parent pay to meet each learner and expand their learning capability.
