DISCLAIMER
==========
You must agree to all the terms in the LICENSE AGREEMENT (license.txt) before
using Call Trace.
SETUP
=====
- Unless you are running a version prior to 1.0 beta 3, you can install Call Tra
ce
over an existing release. Otherwise, uninstall your existing version before
running setup.
- Call Trace will automatically setup and configure itself through a setup wizar
d
(complements of Inno Setup). Do not place Call Trace in your STARTUP folder.
It will automatically start when you boot Windows.
- If you reside in Canada or are running Windows 95 you should enable the
'manually decode caller ID data' option in the Modem Setup dialog. See the
Call Trace support page (below) for more details.

GENERAL INFO
============
- Local area code and other dialing properties are automatically retrieved from
your current location in the Windows Dialing Properties (accessible from the
Program Options dialog).
- The following notification types are enabled by default:
* Popup Window
* Ring on incoming call
* Announce caller's number
- The Phone Book allows you to customize names and take specific actions for
individual numbers.
- Use the sleep mode to disable selected notification types until a set time.

O/S SUPPORT
===========
- Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP
Running Call Trace as a system service is not yet supported with Windows 2000/
XP.
- Unimodem V is also required (Call Trace will warn you if it isn't installed)
The December 1996 release of Unimodem V (for Windows 95) is available at:
http://www.microsoft.com/hwdev/devdes/directions.htm
(Windows 95b/98/Me have Unimodem V pre-installed)
Call Trace is a 32 bit TAPI compliant program so Windows NT 3.51 is not
supported. Furthermore, although Windows NT 4.0 supports TAPI, it does not
support Unimodem V (which is needed to detect incoming calls and retrieve call
display information from the modem). DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL UNIMODEM V on
NT 4.0! Support for Unimodem V on the NT platform is available with Windows 2000
.

COUNTRY SUPPORT
===============
- Any country is supported just as long as your modem hardware supports your
phone company's caller ID standard. The Call Trace support page details
the different standards used in different areas.
- Customizable formatting options are available for areas which differ from the
North American standard of representing phone numbers: (123) 456-7890
(Right click on the call log and select 'Customize Log')

MODEM SUPPORT
=============
- Any modem that supports call display should work fine. However, you must
ensure that you are using the correct modem driver (.inf file) for your modem
for call display to work properly. Go to your modem vendor's homepage to
obtain the latest version of your modem's .inf file if you are having
problems retrieving call display (and you have Unimodem V installed).
- The Modem Setup dialog should prove useful in diagnosing your software and
hardware for call display compatibility (O/S, modem, .inf, Unimodem V support)
.
The Call Trace support page has detailed information regarding specific modem
issues.

KNOWN ISSUES
============
- The Call Trace web site has an updated list of all known issues.
