Rubios Baja Grill: Organized and directed this companys marketing and operatio
nal expansion into the San Francisco Bay Area. Conducted extensive marketing an
alysis for best site location and created re-invention plan for the Mexican food
restaurant chain. Strategically laid-out a 36 month campaign to position Rubio
s as the market leader within their niche. Evaluated demographic requirements,
traffic patterns, retail sales numbers, target shopping sites, malls, movie thea
ters and tourist attractions. Successfully introduced Rubios to the Bay Area vi
a the critical selection of properties, locations, and target client populations
. Prepared all RFPs, negotiated all leases, and created the commercial basis fo
r Rubios extensive success in Silicon Valley and SF Bay Area.
Santa Clara County (Silicon Valley), Dept. of Social Services: Strategically c
oalesced a fragmented organization with multiple leases diffusely spread through
out the County into one centralized headquarters facility of 210,000 square feet
. Spearheaded efforts to define and differentiate the Countys true operational
space requirements. Positioned and managed site development to meet emergent, s
tate-of-the-art, first-in-its-class green construction elements just being defin
ed at a national level. Prepared all RFP, negotiated all lease terms, assisted
with all office use and space planning, managed comprehensive construction, tena
nt improvement, and client move-in schedules.
Hyseq, Inc: Successfully managed entire comprehensive negotiations resulting
in amicable lease terminations on over 100,000 SF of unused space. Salvaged com
pany from threatened bankruptcy via extensive negotiation on releases from multi
ple leases with multiple landlords (AMB REIT the most high profile). Terminatio
n of these leases represented a critical element in Hyseqs strategic re-organiza
tion plan and resulted in its ability to survive and remain viable in the Silico
n Valley.
RUE-ELL ENTERPRISES, INC. PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT, Berkeley, California
Director of Sales, Marketing and Acquisitions (1996 1999)
Successfully managed the marketing of a diverse portfolio of buildings throughou
t the San Francisco Bay area (approximately 80% retail centers and 20% professio
nal office use). Oversaw all facets of the marketing and property sales/leasing
process: newspaper advertising, brochures, mailers to brokerage community and
tenants. Negotiated all lease transaction terms and lease agreements. Spearhea
ded efforts with all property acquisitions from bank O.R.E.O. to leased shopping
