Jika merujuk pada kata 'Present' berarti sekarang dan 'Perfect' yang berarti sempurna.
Maka kita bisa menarik kesimpulan bahwa Present Perfect Tense adalah suatu tense yang
digunakan untuk menggambarkan suatu aktivitas yang telah dilakukan pada saat ini. Disebut
Perfect karena aktivitas itu telah terjadi atau sudah diselesaikan secara sempurna pada saat ini
(present).
Maka Present Perfect Tense memakai have/has yang artinya 'sudah'. Hati-hati, disini
arti dari have/has adalah 'sudah' bukan 'memiliki', karena have yang artinya memiliki akan
diikuti oleh noun/kata benda bukan verb/kata kerja.
Fungsi Present Perfect Tense
 Present perfect tense berfungsi untuk menunjukkan suatu aktifitas yang baru saja
selesai, maka efek dari pekerjaan tersebut masih dapat kita rasakan sampai saat
ini. Biasanya ditambahkan kata just sebelum have/has; Contoh: My father just has
come back from Tegal.
 Present perfect tense digunakan untuk menunjukkan suatu aktifitas yang pernah
dilakukan di masa lalu namun waktu dari aktifitas tersebut tidak jelas diketahui.
Contoh: I have read the novel, but I forgot the story.
 Present perfect tense juga berguna ntuk menggambarkan suatu pekerjaan yang
dilakukan berulang-ulang. Contoh: I have called him so many times
How to form Present Perfect Tense?
Present perfect tense dibentuk oleh auxiliary verb (have/has) dan past
participle/verb 3 sebagai kata kerja. Have digunakan subject pronoun untuk I, You, They,
We. Sedangkan Has subject pronoun adalah untuk He, She, It, atau orang ketiga tunggal.
Sehingga rumusnya adalah Subject + Have/Has + Verb 3.
Berikut ini adalah rumus positif, negatif, dan interogatif dari present perfect tense:

Kata keterangan waktu yang digunakan dalam tenses ini yaitu:

 -      since (Sejak)
-      For (Selama
-      Already (sudah: untuk kalimat affirmative/positive)
-      Not …… yet (belum/negative)
To make sure you have a brief explanation, read these following sentences.
1) Don't walk on the floor, it has just been mopped. (Jangan berjalan di lantai, itu
sudah di pel)
2) My grandfather has just gone away due to diabetes. (Kakekku baru saja
meninggal karena penyakit diabetes)
3) Mr. Ramlan has been elected as a chairman of this office. (Bapak Ramlan
sudah terpilih sebagai Kepala kantor ini)
4) The earth climate has changed because of global warming. (Iklim bumi sudah
berubah karena global warming)
5) I have been gone to Lombok for two times. (Aku sudah pergi ke Lombok dua
kali)
