Descriptive research includes surveys, fact findings enquiries of different

kinds. The major purpose of this research is description of the state of
affairs, as it exists at present. The main character of this method is that the
researcher has no control over the variables; he can only report what has
happened or what is happening. It also includes attempts by researchers to
discover causes even when they cannot control the variables. The method of
research utilized in descriptive research is survey methods of all kinds

1. In this research I found that most of the people prefer Maruti Swift than
that of Hyundai I-20. When I raised the question why they like Maruti,
most of them answered, that 1st of all Maruti is an Indian Company, and
so far Maruti has been assisting the Indian Consumer since 1984,
because of that people have trust on Maruti, however they didn’t deny
the fact that Hyundai, although new but able to increase the market
share, and giving competition to other players in the market.

2. When I asked whether they are satisfied with their car’s performance
most of them answered in positive, and few of them explained very
beautifully, that purchasing a car is not a small decision that can be taken
in haste, there is a great difference between purchasing a car or any
other product. It requires a complete understanding of your budget and
requirements, because one purchases a car for various reasons such as
job, business travel, family etc. So, it is obvious that one would be
satisfied by his decision.

3. In this survey, I found that most people purchase the car for job purpose
than that of business travel. Some of them have family reason also for
having a car.

4. The sample size of my survey is very less, it is only 55, but what I found
that more people are satisfied with the after sale service of Maruti Swift
than Hyundai I-20. I talked with few person who have both the cars, and
when I asked about the after sale service of their cars, they answered
that the after sale service of Maruti is far much better than that of
Hyundai.

5. When I asked them about the source of information which helps them to
decide which car is best for them, most of them answered that, they
consult this with their friends and family members. Most of the time they
prefer a person who is already using the brand which they want to
purchase. Very few of them take help of Auto Magazines, or directly talk
to the dealers as they provide biased information. Few people who are
tech savvy they told that, now a days internet is the best option to get
the information, before purchasing a car.

6. When I asked if they want to change the brand in future, most of them
answered in negative, as they said that they are fully satisfied with the
brand, and they might change the car, but it would be of the same brand.
The reason behind this is that they are fully satisfied with the service and
they are brand loyal.

7. In this survey I found that most of the people wants to change the car in
5 to 10 years, very few of them want to change the car in short duration
such as in 2 to 5 years. And somewhere around 9 to 10 customers said
that they want to change the care after 10 years.

control. Moreover human error is somewhat said to be inevitable. Study is
limited in terms of number of respondents that has been covered, which is
just 55 in numbers. As most of the time people were busy in some way or
other so, only verbal interaction and that to for few seconds could be
possible.

The limitations of this study are as follows:

1. This study is done in Meerut, UP. Hence this study is applicable only in
this particular region and not elsewhere.

2. The sample size of my survey is only 55, as I got very few days to do the
survey, the result could have been different if the time duration was bit
longer.

increases the purchasing power adding to the growth of the automobile

industry as a whole and the automobile companies in particular. According to
a market survey results the sale of passenger cars have increased by three
folds than what it used to be five years down the line. Apparently there are 1
million passenger cars already on the Indian roads and the figure only
promises to increase as the days go by. Be it small cars, medium cars or
luxury cars all have their target customers and all do well in the market so
much so that global giants from USA and Japan are entering the Indian
automobile sector and working in collaboration with the Indian automobile

This shows the kind of competition automobile industry has in India, it is Formatted: No underline

very important for companies to come up with innovative ideas to fulfill the
needs of the consumer in an effective way. As it is clearly mentioned that
the new players are entering in the Indian market so it is very important for
the existing player to retain the customers.

afford the car. Company should also come up with the low cost car. As the
demand of low cost car is very high in India, Tata Nano is a good example of

CONCLUSION Auto, All caps, Kern at 16 pt

The conclusion of this finding is that, there is no big difference between both
the cars and as the customer who is using one of them always tend to say
good about his/her car. Apart from one or two reason they are fully satisfied
with their car. Only in case of after sale service, people like Maruti. In all
other cases most of the answers were same; the average of satisfaction
level is slightly different from one another.

In another case, most of the people do not want to change the brand and
continue with the same brand. However they understand the fact that new
models are coming every second day and it is very hard to decide the best
car as every company is providing same kind of services and the competition
is very high in the market.
