ional responsibilities ... managing two subordinates, scheduling (parts) pick -u
p and deliveries, vehicle maintenance and monitoring fuel consumption.
Inventory Parts Manager
Did the work of 2 people to get our $.5M inventory back under control! Attentio
n was focused on current stock levels, new equipment acquisitions, implementing
a min-max procurement plan... Note! Replacement parts and consumables were evalu
ated for 12 months to verify usage. Materials were then returned for credit or d
iscarded. Decker's inventory was significantly reduced through attrition, credit
returns, and disposals. Parts were purchased according to stock and usage level
s (period). Inventory levels were projected, for two months. Specialty and seas
onal components I.e.: Engine, Driveline, and Air Conditioning & Heating parts we
re excluded because of availability issues. A new Bar code printer, scanner and
"Palm Pilot" proved invaluable, for cycle counts and our "end of month reports".
Additionally, my colleagues and I agreed to consolidate major purchases using
specified vendors to stabilize costs. Maintenance expenditures "going forward" w
ere now predetermined using a new bidding process saving thousands of corporate
dollars, guarantying parts availability, ensuring uniform corporate pricing and
freight options. The planned venture certainly reduced maintenance down time, he
lped solve shortages and lowered freight costs. Reduced paperwork with (fewer pu
rchase orders) and an increased commitment (larger dollars) coincided with an im
proved business climate. Indeed the plan encouraged similar contract agreements
& competitive bidding.
Trained ...Multi functional usage of hand held "Palm Pilot", bar code scanner an
d coding machine. I had no prior experience or training with this system but mas
tered the program so well I was able to train our shop technicians quickly. This
system improved inventory accuracy and dramatically reduced time.
