Preamble

This XCAL-LTE Operation Handbook intends to be read by the user who need to use HUAWEI LTE
UE who are trying to install, configure and perform any measurements using XCAL-LTE. All the
contents are described sequentially and can be followed one by one.

The contents are separated into three categories with different objectives as explained below

Chapter 1 : How to install the upgrade patch XCAL-LTE

This chapter explains how to install the upgrade patch released by Accuver. This chapter can be
skipped if you are already using the required version of XCAL-LTE

Chapter 2 : How to Recall the pre-configured auto call, Display, Device configurations
This chapter explains how to recall and apply the configurations which have been proved to be
the most suitable configuration for the project. The ‘configuration’ in this chapter includes auto call
setting, display windows setting, device setting including Port settings. This chapter can be
skipped once you apply this to one laptop PC as all the setting shall be recorded on the XCAL-
LTE if you apply once.

Chapter 3 : Step by Step checklist in performing the XCAL-LTE measurements

This chapter explains step by step procedures in performing LTE measurements using XCAL-
LTE. It can be used as a check list always needs to be made sure by the Drive Test engineer.

You can download the components from the dedicated ftp server. Please contact our support team
if you do not have the details. You have to have these components to follow the processes
explained in this document.

Chapter 1 : How to install the upgrade patch XCAL-LTE

This chapter explains how to install the upgrade patch released by Accuver. This chapter can
be skipped if you are already using the required version of XCAL-LTE

1. Install XCAL-LTE using the installation version

Just follow the instructions during the installation of XCAL-LTE x.x.xx.xxx

2. Apply XCAL-LTE upgrade Patch (if you are guided to do so)

Download XCAL-LTE x.x.xx.xxx [Patch] from the FTP server indicated.

Unzip the file

Copy and Overwrite all files and folders to C:/ProgramFiles/Accuver/XCAL-LTE

Confirm the upgrade by from [XCAL-LTE > Help > About]

Chapter 2 : How to Recall the pre-configured auto call,

Display, Device configurations
This chapter explains how to recall and apply the configurations which have been proved to be
the most suitable configuration for the project. The ‘configuration’ in this chapter includes auto
call setting, display windows setting, device setting including Port settings. This chapter can be
skipped once you apply this to one laptop PC as all the setting shall be recorded on the XCAL-
LTE if you apply once.

3. Setting > Load All Settings

This is to recall all the settings saved previously.

4. Choose ‘pre Config.set’ which you may have got from either your colleague or Accuver
support team.

5. The features of this ‘Pre Config.set’ configuration shall apply the preconfigured settings
automatically. You can later amend and change each of them and save alternative
settings through [XCAL-LTE > Setting > Save all settings].

Port Setting - the screenshot below is an example of a Port Setting recalled.

Sub Windows configuration – Throughput, Cell Measurements, RRC messages, etc

Alarm Setting – Setup Fail, Traffic Fail, Call Drop, Pending, Mobile Error

Auto Call Setting also will be recalled as configured before.

6. Auto Call > Import Scenario

You may not have to perform this if you have applied ‘Load All Settings’ explained in the
previous pages but you can use this ‘import scenario/export scenario’ feature just to share
your scenarios with other teams.

9. Alias Setting for Huawei E398

. Chip Type : LTE-Qualcomm

. Phone Model : Card(PCMCIA/USB) Type Phone
. Data Service Type: Network Adapter
. Log Mask Alias : select LTE Recommended

10. Then click on Add/ Edit button of log mask section and Voice/Data section. Click OK.

11. Configure DM port and Adapter

The devices to be configured should exist in Device manager as the screenshots below.

12. Enable Voice Alarm by pushing Alarm Button – it should be done MANUALLY each time
you open XCAL

13. Run Auto call script

Please make it sure the setting you have to perform are suitable for your measurement
purpose.

14. Monitor the status during the measurement

LTE Data Rate Status – [XCAL-LTE > Statistics/Status > Throughput Info], you can monitor
the download & upload throughput information through this window

Call Process – [XCAL-LTE > Statistics/Status > Call Statistics], you can monitor the Call
procedure details through this window. You will be able to monitor the current call’s status
and also monitor the history of the calls during the past calls.
