- Sourced, recruited, and hired a staff of 425 hourly coworkers and 44 exempt co
workers during new store buildup. Pioneered a new recruiting and hiring process
focused on selecting qualified candidates who reflected the IKEA culture and wh
o possessed the necessary transferable skills and motivation. The aHiring Event
a concept was adopted by new stores as a Best Practice.
- Proactively sought out non-traditional and unique low-cost, high-yield recruit
ing and onboarding techniques. Saved the project team over $100,000 in training
expenses and cut two weeks off the training calendar during store build-up.
- Instilled a common vision and brand identity into the group. Created and deliv
ered multiple team building and group learning activities for groups ranging in
size from 12 to 350 participants. Seventy percent of current store population r
emains from the grand opening team. Annual turnover results of less than 25% eac
h year since 2007, including an 85% success rate for new hires during the same p
eriod, ranked top 5 stores in IKEA US.
- Successfully utilized leadership models (Situational Leadership II, StrengthsF
inder, Predictive Index and Learning Styles) to create a succession and store de
velopment program. Resulting competence growth created a bench for IKEA and ena
bled six managers and twelve coworkers to earn promotions to other IKEA stores o
ver the last three years. This internal succession bench enabled 80% of leaders
hip positions to be filled by internal candidates since 2007.
- Developed and introduced a structured HR Scorecard to measure store retention,
store turnover, cost to hire, time to hire, dollar per labor hour, compensation
, benefit cost, store demographics, training cost, training completion and indiv
idual development progress. This practice was adopted as a Best Practice.
- Pioneered processes to review coworker performance outside of the annual perfo
rmance appraisal. Strategically planned future staff assignments to provide cros
s training and job enlargement opportunities for top performers and effectively
partnered with managers to address poor performers through structured coaching a
nd feedback.

elivered multiple presentations to senior managers and delivered dozens of prese

process to focus managers on effectively developing their employeeas potential,
build a succession bench, and ensure consistency in the environment experienced
by all employees. Improved the retention rate of new hires by 50% and raised t
