BUSINESS EXPERIENCE
Food Manufacturer August 2006 - October 2010
Corporate Controller for this $60 million, privately held manufacturer and natio
nal distributor of frozen bakery products. Growth from $18 million and one plant
to our current size and three plants in the past three years. Responsibilities
included all financial and accounting, IT, Risk Management and Human Resources w
ith a staff of 10, with the goal of looking for ways to strengthen overall finan
cial performance.
Responsibilities and accomplishments included:
o Implementation of batch process MRP system
o Revamped accounting systems and processes to facilitate reporting knowledge a
nd accuracy for multiple facilities
o Review of all customer contracts as well as facility and equipment leases
o Brought all payroll and Human Resource responsibilities in-house including a
ll current I-9 documentation standards as well as creation of full range of job
descriptions with salary ranges
o Updated inventory and cost accounting processes to accurately track and assig
n material and product costs
o Negotiated new bank facility and renewal and several leases to sustain cash f

Suntron Corporation April 1998 - December 2002


The company was a $450 million contract manufacturer and designer of electronic
circuit boards and assemblies for national companies with multiple US locations
using the most current technologies.

o Performed due diligence reviews for $300M manufacturing operation asset purch
ase.
o Coordinated with multiple audit firms involved in the post acquisition purcha
se reviews and the creation and release of financial results.
o Coordinated with both operations on the integration and financial translation
issues to expedite consolidated financial information creation for public repor
ting purposes.
o Participated as corporate oversight member in the inventory process re-engine

this contract manufacturer of CCA's, cables and box build activities.
o Reduced closing period to four days for all non-quarter end periods and quart
er end to five days.
o Set consistent cost accounting parameters for all divisions, such as standard
material cost and process, resource cost process and overhead capitalization pr
ocess and method.
o Designed new financial statement formats for internal and equity partner use,
and Oracle generated Statement of Cash Flows.
o Direct reports of six plant controllers and corporate staff

Responsibilities included treasury and cash management, lease negotiations, cred
it management, develop and manage budget and forecasting processes.
o Lead contact in recapitalization effort including senior lender, subordinated
debt, and bridge financing.
o Developed first comprehensive budget model for the company using Excel and Or
acle tools, in conjunction with Oracle ERP system.
o Developed comprehensive performance model to forecast profitability, balance
sheet, cash requirements and sources and uses statement.
o Defined credit policies for use at divisions and company level and set signat
ure authority matrix, and cash projection model for weekly and monthly planning.
o Prepare scripts for use in quarterly analyst calls, and participate in analys
t calls as necessary.
Division controller. April 1998 - April 1999
Responsibilities included management of general accounting, revenue, credit and
collections, cost accounting, and plant budget and quarterly forecasting process
es for this Greeley operation
o Developed detailed breakeven model to improve forecast reliability. Using thi
s model as a baseline a detailed department level budget model was developed to
better-forecast profit, cash flow, return on investment and variable versus fixe
d costs.
o Developed revenue analysis tools to understand price, mix and volume variance
s between periods and against budget.
o Negotiated inventory sales with current and disengaging customers to optimize
inventory position.

Sealy Mattress Mfg. Co., Inc. April 1996 - April 1998


Plant controller for this manufacturer of bedding, supplying a seven-state regio
n. Managed general accounting, revenue, credit and collections, cost accounting
, BOM maintenance, and plant budget and quarterly forecasting processes.
o Developed and implemented a new labor code system to allow proper tracking of
manufacturing employee labor efforts in a piece rate incentive environment.
o The first year was a rebuilding period with effort spent cleaning up the bala
nce sheet of this old line firm and beginning to clear the way for the implement
ation of a MRP system.
o Worked with operations management to improve inventory turns, accurately trac
k scrap and waste costs and reduce inventory SKU's.
o Developed processes that allowed the integration of mainframe emulation on PC
's.
o Reduced accounts receivable DSO by 2.5 days in 1997.

AAA Colorado Inc. April 1994 - April 1996


V.P. of Finance of this Colorado corporation providing insurance, auto travel, t
ravel agency, and other services to members and non-members. Responsible for Acc
ounting, IS, and Treasury functions.
o Initiated internal audit process in the effort to improve internal control of
assets and reporting flow for this customer oriented environment. Reduced clos
ing cycle from 24 days to 8.
o Initiated and chaired Risk Management team to oversee insurance goals and req
uirements.
o Initiated central purchasing for the company reducing the number of vendors u
sed, more consistent use of national contracts, and the introduction of quality
standards.
o Upgraded investment practices to improve return on investment portfolio by 20
%.
o Guided movement into networked environment and office automation.
o Led project to improve collections of all road service billings and collectio
n history. Resulted in incremental collections of $11,000 - $19,000 per month in
first six months.
o Managed external audit processes overseeing scheduling and actuarial work nec

o Guided the decentralization of sales accounting functions to regional busines

o Created the first codified revenue recognition policy for the corporation. Cr
eated revenue recognition policies and updates to accommodate new products, busi
ness needs, pricing strategy changes, and GAAP pronouncements.
o Implemented a statistical based cycle count program for use in a $10 million
in-house equipment inventory system.

Controller for manufacturer of cartridge tape systems. Company revenue grew by 1
300% between 1987 and 1990. Formerly Aspen Peripherals Corp., a venture capital
financed company, acquired by Storage Technology Corp. in 1988.
o Implemented all financial modules of an on-line interactive MRPII system incl
uding General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Order Entry/Inv
oicing.
o Direct participation in manufacturing systems implementations such as E.C. po
licy, item master setup, standard cost definition, and purchasing policies.
o Prepared and presented financial results to Board of Directors and Shareholde
rs.
o Guided company through merger with public corporation including SEC 10Q and S
-3 filings and all audit work.
