RESEARCH
Runway Incursion Detection MATLAB Algorithm
Jan 09 May 09
CIBAC
MSU Baltimore, MD
Student Researcher
Attempted to create a general runway incursion detection algorithm from a satel
lite image of BWI to limit aircraft collisions at runways and taxiways.
The algorithm mostly consisted of loops, boundaries, and MATLAB functions to me
asure lengths, widths and angles of lines and removal of noise and surrounding t
he runways and taxiways of a binary image.
Imagery was obtained by using ArcGIS Explorer and Google Maps.
A Geospatial Assessment of Bird Strikes at Selected International Airports in th
e USA
Jan 09 May 09
CIBAC
MSU Baltimore, MD
Student Researcher
Applied remote sensing techniques to determine there is a correlation between t
he number of bird strikes and the surrounding environment of specific US interna
tional airports for NASA.
Results provided various methods to reduce the number of bird strikes.
Selected to be in charge of bird strike research due to grasping concepts quick
er than others.
Provided the best presentation and the most detailed report during Summer 09.
Trained research partner how to properly apply and understand the functions of
ESRIs ArcGIS Software Suite before and after research hours under professors adv
isement.
Excelled in completing basic tutorials for GeoMedia Pro and ArcView.
