Goals: Proposed a multi-site, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot
clinical trial of the dopamine- -hydroxylase (DBH) inhibitor, nepicastat, for t
he treatment of PTSD in outpatients who have previously served in a combat zone
during Operation Iraqi Freedom & Operation Enduring Freedom.

A Placebo-Controlled Trial of Adjunctive Quetiapine for Refractory PTSD.
Goals: Focused on improving prior methodologies by enrolling patients deemed ref
ractory to paroxetine after an initial 8-week prospective open-label trial. Obje
ctive is to evaluate the efficacy of this combination strategy on core PTSD symp
toms, associated symptoms and
comorbidities, sleep disturbances, cognitive functioning, quality of life, and o
verall level of functioning.

Ziprasidone Augmentation for Treatment-Resistant PTSD in Veterans of the Iraq-Ir

Goals: A two-phase study which prospectively identified veteransa refractory to
8 weeks of treatment with an antidepressant which is FDA-approved for the treatm
ent of DSM-IV PTSD in addition to augmenting treatment with ziprasidone or place
bo for an additional 8 weeks.
