I am passionate about expanding a company's image and increasing the bottom line
, through Marketing, Fund Development, and Advertising.
My extensive and varied background is appropriate for outreach and event coordin
ation.
As Marketing Manager at a graphics design firm, I developed foundational strateg
ies in marketing for bringing in new clients and to increase the name recognitio
n for the company. I helped produce numerous advertising brochures, booklets, an
d other printed materials. On request I can present dozens of promotional litera
ture originals.
As an Outside Sales Representative, I carried an entrepreneurial spirit and serv
ice oriented approach, to position myself in the business community
to build pathways from nonprofits to the private sector. As an event coordinator
and membership recruiter, I organized dozens of fundraising
and community sponsored events.

CAREER EXPERIENCE SYNOPSIS:

Marketing Manager - Visual Reality
Graphic Design studio where I targeted and contacted prospective clients through
out the country, utilizing direct mail and phone inquiry. Met with local clients
to discuss marketing, design, and printing needs for high-end premium color cat
alogs. Helped create advertising concepts, visual images and slogans for sales a
ds and brochures. Attended press checks. Composed letters and edited promotional
literature.
Event Coordinator/Promotion Specialist
Nonprofit Groups: Membership and volunteer recruiter for many different groups;
Co-organized social and high-visibility fund raising events, arranged speaking e
ngagements, conducted meetings and worked with appropriate agencies. Also manage
d marketing and development programs.

Nonprofit Promotion and Fundraising Experience:

2nd Saturday (With a Cause) / March of Dimes
Co-marketed a benefit for lymphoma and cancer research for a laboratory at UC D
avis Cancer Center. $23,000. was contributed in one evening through a silent auc
tion, raffle, and gift donations. Participated in walkathons and sold tickets to
raise money and awareness for the March of Dimes.
Meher Baba Center of Northern California
Helped to organize numerous social and fundraising events, including h
uge rummage sales, art shows, and musical performances.
Clausen House
As Job Developer, I helped establish the Employment Services Departmen
t as a viable entity in the job placement field for developmentally disabled adu
lts. Acting as liaison with potential employers: I visited businesses, establish
ed a database, assessed an applicant's skills and interests, offered interview t
echnique training, resume writing, and personal appearance advice.
Albany High School Sports Boosters
Because of projected government funding cuts, I helped assist in the p
lanning and implementing of a sports booster program. I worked with government a
gencies and school administrators for high-visibility and fundraising concerns,
which included parade permits, rummage sales, and sporting events. I contacted h
undreds of former school alumni for contributions by phone, newsletters and dire
ct mail. Result: another year of sports programs.
McKinley/Addison/Grant Neighborhood Association
As a foundational member of this very successful neighborhood group, a
mong other accomplishments, we organized a preferential parking zone in our area
, persuaded the City Council to designate crime watch areas throughout the city,
and set up regular meetings between citizens and police for information interch
ange.
Friends of Alain Youell
I helped to form this dynamic group which centered on prison reform in
 the areas of visitation and inmates' rights, through letter writing campaigns,
fundraising, and networking with groups responsible for lobbying in Congress.
Bay Area Friends of Tibet / Ewam Choden Center
I assisted in advertising and fundraising programs, of which the mos
t profitable events being the annual "Tibet Day" at Fort Mason, and organized sp
eaking engagements with prominent teachers and scholars throughout the world.
