Education Rights in India: More than a Necessity

It's very rightly said by someone, "Education is a companion which no future can depress,

no crime can destroy, no enemy can alienate and no nepotism can enslave". Education is

the source to all achievements throughout the journey of one's life. It makes the man know

the worth of him. It's the key to drive oneself towards the ultimate. And the harsh truth of

the society is that an uneducated person in the contemporary world can't survive, and even

if he somehow does, then he will always be surrounded with insults and abuse. He will

always be the one amongst those millions who are everyday left bankrupt by the rude and

shrewd shopkeepers.

New Delhi, Feb 20 2010 (IANS) Youth from several Indian states are 'not educated enough for
employment' as per the market demand, a study released Saturday said.

The findings also indicated that 'most youth were neither adequately educated nor equipped with
vocational skills'.

'Just two in every five young men (40 percent) and one in every three young women (33 percent)
had completed secondary education...(and) one in every 12 young men and one in four young
women had never been to school at all in the country,' said the study conducted under the aegis
of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

1st April 2010, RTE ACT Introduced

It has become an important landmark in the Indian history, a history which speaks many

horrid experiences of helpless children and women, who had no options but to work. The

lips of the small but apparently highly aged population, which are consolingly called as

children, must have stretched a bit when they have secretly heard of somewhere the words,

'Free and compulsory education, a right now', but the very next moment they must have

realized their position that the are roped by the harsh fundamentals of the society. And

some of the highest minds must have uttered, "Huh! At last, it could be done…" That is

certainly a surprise that the rights of the broods are now, after six decades of our

independence, are taken care of. What's being talked about is the seventh fundamental

right, Free and compulsory education to 6 to 14 year children, these words were only

suggestive in the constitution till this date, but now it has become much more than that.

After reading the above paragraphs, being an Indian and a student of an International
Business School, you are now in the process of seriously thinking about our country and
the basic rights which we have as an Indian Citizen. You are invited to an International
Conference as a representative from India to talk about the Indian Education scenario with
RTE as the main theme of your talk. You have to present the RTE with both its
advantages; disadvantages and your detailed plan of implementing it in next 3 years.
Consider the use of ICT as a tool for implementation.

Your assignment is to research on the topic “RTE : More than a Necessity ? :Advantages and
disadvantages of the RTE in the International and Domestic arena” and report your findings
along with your analysis, comments and suggestions as to how to make this RTE an advantage
for inclusive India in this fastest growing world economy.. Present your views in the
form of a 15-25 slide Power Point presentation. Justify your opinion with facts and real

the audience goes to sleep while watching your presentation, you may lose marks!

Be creative! Your job depends on how well you present your case. Remember to list all web

play automatically with a pre-determined interval for each slide. This interval can be
different for each slide -- it's up to you to determine the appropriate amount of time.
Note that the transition effect will only appear in the original presentation -- not in the
versions that will be mounted on the course folder
• At least two different type fonts
• A color scheme [fonts, background, etc.] on at least one slide that it is different from the
rest – the presentation will be evaluated on its "readability". Keep this in mind when you
