Megan Birney had a busy couple of months as an LCMS missionary in Hong Kong, including leading a service trip to teach English in rural China, volunteering at an Easter event, celebrating Easter Sunday with her congregation, finishing graduate classes, and leading Bible studies for high school seniors. She is traveling to the US for more classes and fundraising before returning to continue her ministry in Hong Kong, launching new children's and youth programs. Africa to Asia An insight into the ministry of LCMS missionary Megan Birney serving Christ in Hong Kong
A season for everything...
...and yet spring flew past in a whirlwind and here comes summer! It’s been an incredibly busy two months with a service trip, Easter, wrapping up my semester of graduate classes, and wrapping up the HKIS school year. Thank you for your patience in communi- cation and your continued support of the Lord’s work here in Hong Kong. Here’s a recap from the past two months… April 4-8: I led an EFL service trip to Yunnan province with Concordia Welfare and Educa- tion Foundation (CWEF). We taught English lessons to middle school students at Deze Middle School in Zhanyi County. Along with teaching English to students, we were also observed by English teachers from all the schools in Zhanyi county in order for them to observe and learn new techniques for teaching English. (Photos below) April 16: CAN volunteered at the World’s Fair at HKIS to promote our Easter services and activities. We “tattooed” students (temporarily!) and talked to parents about CAN. It was a great opportunity to connect with many HKIS families. April 24: He is risen, indeed! CAN celebrated Easter with an outdoor early service, breakfast, festivi- ties for children, and a later traditional liturgical service. It was a blessed day of celebration and fellowship (Photos on pg. 2) April-May: I led a college-prep Bible study for HKIS high school seniors. I thoroughly enjoyed Let your the time and conversations with these amazing young adults and feel that I have learned conversation even more about the student body… I also finished up two more graduate classes during April & May.
