Instruction Booklet for M.Sc. - Nursing Entrance Examination

[For Admission to M.Sc. – Nursing (2 Year) Course]

Rajasthan University of Health Sciences will conduct M.Sc. - Nursing Entrance

Examination 2011-12 for admission to M.Sc. Nursing (2 Year) Course in Nursing Colleges
affiliated to Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur on 17th July, 2011 (Sunday), at
Jaipur. The candidates are required to appear in the aforesaid examination for seats
mentioned below:-
1. SEATS AND RESERVATIONS
(a) Total Number of seats to be filled by this M.Sc. – Nursing Entrance Examination
2011 - 12 is as under:

M.Sc. Nursing Entrance Examination 2011 – 12 will be held on 17th July, 2011 at
Jaipur.
Out of above 25 seats of Government Nursing College, Jaipur, 10 seats are reserved
for regular, in-service regular eligible employees of Government of Rajasthan. Out of
these 10 seats, 5 seats are reserved for in-service teachers and 5 seats are reserved for
those in Clinical areas of State Government Institutions.
Remaining 15 seats at Government Nursing College, Jaipur, 5 seats at BMCHRC
College of Nursing, Jaipur, 5 seats at JNC, Dhand, Jaipur and 3 seats at Geetanjali
College of Nursing, Udaipur are open for all. The total number of seats and colleges
may increase or decrease as per INC directives.
(b) 16% , 12% , 21 % and 1 % of total seats will be reserved for natural born candidates
of SC, ST, OBC and SBC respectively (not adopted) as notified in the Presidential
Order for the State of Rajasthan. Female candidates will be given reservations as per
Government orders.
(c) 3% seats will be reserved for Physically Handicapped on Horizontal basis in their
respective categories.
(d) Any subsequent order of the Government of Rajasthan regarding reservation and
number of seats will be followed.

2. ELIGIBILITY Criteria / Admission Requirements :

I. For General (Non-Service Candidates):
Candidate must fulfill the criteria for eligibility as listed below:
A. The candidates should be a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife or equivalent
registered with any State Nursing Council.
B. The candidate must have passed B.Sc. Nursing (Basic / Trained & Registered) / B.Sc.
Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with minimum of 55% aggregate marks in
respective examinations. 5 % relaxation of marks for SC/ST candidate shall be given.
C. The candidate should have undergone B.Sc. Nursing (Basic / Trained & Registered) /
B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing in an institution which is recognized
by the Indian Nursing Council.
D. Minimum one year of work experience after B.Sc. Nursing Basic / Prior or After Post
Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
E. Candidate shall be medically fit.
II. For In-Service Category:
Candidate must fulfill the criteria for eligibility as listed below:
A. The candidates should be medically fit and be in the service of State Government of
Rajasthan and be registered with the Rajasthan Nursing Council.
B. The candidates must have passed B.Sc. Nursing (Basic / Trained & Registered) /
B.Sc. Nursing (Hons.) / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Examination from any recognized
University with minimum of 55% aggregate marks in respective examinations. 5%
relaxation of marks shall be given to SC/ST candidates.
C. He/she should have completed at least two years of continuous service after regular
appointment by the Government of Rajasthan. The candidate would be required to
submit a certificate to the above effect duly signed by the Director, Medical & Health
Service, Government of Rajasthan, Jaipur.
III. There will be No Age Limit for Admission to M.Sc. Nursing Course.

IV. All the candidates are required to get his/her recent passport size colored photographs
pasted on Application form duly attested from the Principal of Nursing College last
attended or Director, Medical & Health Service, Government of Rajasthan, Jaipur or
any Gazetted Officer failing which his/her admission card will not be released.
V. Physically handicapped candidates are required to enclose a copy of Physical
Disability Certificate issued by Medical Board duly constituted by the Central/State
Government. The valid disability certificate of the candidate from the Medical Board
should not be more than 3 months old from the last date of submission of Application
Forms, i.e., 02-07-2011.

3. OTHER CONDITIONS FOR M.SC. NURSING ENTRANCE
EXAMINATION 2011 - 12
(a) The candidate desirous of taking the M.Sc. Nursing Entrance
Examination must submit his/her application on the prescribed form
complete in all respects along with DD of Rs. 1200/- in favors of
Registrar, Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur latest by
5.00 P.M. on 30th June, 2011 in Office of The Convener, M.Sc.
Nursing Entrance Examination 2011 - 12, Rajasthan University
of Health Sciences, Sector-18, Kumbha Marg, Pratap
Nagar, Jaipur. Forms can also be deposited with D.D. of Rs.
1200/- in favors of Registrar, Rajasthan University of
Health Sciences, Jaipur personally during office hours on
working days till 5.00 P.M. on 02-07-2011. RUHS will not be held
responsible for any postal delay.
(b)The candidates shall fill-in-the application form in his/her own
handwriting.
(c) It will be the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that he/she
fills in the correct address in the form for sending the admission
card for the examination. The University shall not be held
responsible for any loss in transit due to incorrect address given by
the candidate.
(d) Incomplete application form in any respect shall be
liable for rejection and no correspondence in this
regard shall be entertained thereof.
4. DETAILS OF EXAMINATION

(a) The M.Sc. - Nursing Entrance Examination 2011 – 12 shall be of the

standard of B.Sc. (Nursing) Examination of Rajasthan University of
Health Sciences and shall cover all the subjects of the B.Sc. Nursing
Course.
(b) There shall be one paper of 3 hours duration containing 150
multiple choice questions. Subjects to be included in the M.Sc.
Nursing Entrance Examination are :

(c) Examination will be held from 08.30 A.M. - 11.30 A.M. on 17th
July, 2011.
(d)The allotments of Centre, Roll Nos., and seating arrangement
will be at the discretion of the University.
(e) The candidate is expected to take his / her seat at least 30
minutes before commencement of the examination. No
candidate coming after 15 minutes of the commencement of
the examination will be permitted to appear in the
examination.
(f) Candidate will be required to produce Admission Card before
he/she is allowed to enter the examination centre.
(g) No Candidate will be allowed to carry any text material written or
printed, bits of paper or any other material except the admission
card inside the hall. Cellular/Mobile Phone/Pager/Calculator
or any other electronic devices will not be permitted in
the examination hall.
(h) The candidates will be required to darken the appropriate ovals /
circles using Black Ball Point Pen to indicate the Roll
Number and the Booklet Alphabet Code on the OMR
answer-sheet. Marking wrong ovals in the Booklet Code or Roll

 Number Box will be treated as unfairmeans and may lead to
disqualification. Use of whitener is prohibited for any correction.
(i) In addition to provisions laid down in Ordinance 152 to deal with
cases of unfairmeans during the examination by the University,
such candidates will also be dealt with additionally in pursuance of
the Rajasthan Public Examination (Prevention of Unfairmeans) Act,
1992.

(j) The examination will be of objective type. The candidates should

darken the appropriate circles / ovals using black
ballpoint pen only. Therefore, the candidates are
advised to finalize his / her choice before marking on
OMR sheet. Overwriting is not allowed. Darkening of
more than one circle / oval will be treated as wrong
answer. No stray marks should be made on the OMR
sheet. OMR sheet should not be folded. Rough work
must not be done on the OMR sheet.
(k) The University shall arrange for videoography/photography of
individual candidate for identification of the candidate. The
candidates are required to keep their head in upright position and
face the camera during this process so that their identity could be
clearly established.
(l) In order to prevent impersonation, left thumb impression shall also
be obtained on a biometric machine during the conduct of
examination. In case left thumb impression could not be registered
on the machine due to injury or some other reason, right thumb
impression or impression of any finger, in case other thumb is also
injured, shall be registered on the machine.
(m) No candidate will be allowed to go outside the
examination hall till the completion of the examination.
(n) There will not be any Negative Marking.
(o) The Jurisdiction of the court cases will be at Jaipur.
5. Qualifying Marks

The qualifying marks for General Candidate will be 40% and

35 % for SC / ST Candidates. The admission will be made as per

 merit. In case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks in
the examination, the inter-se merit of such candidates shall be
determined in order of preference as under:-
(1) Total Number of Attempts for passing B.Sc. Nursing; the candidate
with less number of attempts shall get the preference.
(2) Date of Birth in which old age candidate will get preference over
younger candidate.
(3) Candidates with Higher Marks obtained in Senior Secondary (10+2)
Examination will get preference over candidates with lower marks.

Note: - Grievance, if any, regarding ambiguities of the Question Paper
have to be communicated to Office of The Convener till 5.00
P.M. at RUHS, Jaipur on the day of the Examination or The
Center Superintendent just after the completion of the
examination.
6. DETAILS OF COUNSELING
The candidate will be required to attend the counseling for
Admission to the M.Sc. Nursing (2 year) Course on his/her own
expenses on scheduled dates & place, details of which will be
notified separately through media. No individual intimation will be
sent in this regard.
Note:-
(1) The candidate shall be allowed to participate in the counseling only
when the thumb impression of candidate registered during conduct
of M.Sc. Nursing Entrance Examination 2011 – 12 matches at the
time of counseling. If thumb impression registered on the biometric
machine does not match as above, then the case will be referred to
the finger print experts. If genuineness of the candidate is not
established from the report of finger print experts, then the case
shall be dealt under the provisions of unfairmeans.
(2) For seats mentioned at 1(a), the selection shall be made as per
allocations made by the Government of Rajasthan, Jaipur.
(3) The vacancies arising due to not joining of the candidates within the
stipulated time shall be filled as per merit.
7. IMPORTANT POINTS
• The fee is non-refundable in any case. Therefore, the
candidates are advised to ensure his/her eligibility before
submitting the form.

 • It should be carefully noted that if the required
documents/certificates are not attached, the application form will be
rejected without any intimation to the candidate. In case any
candidate desires to submit an additional document(s) before the
last date of submission of Application Form, i.e., 30-6-2011, can
do so by depositing an additional fees of Rupees Two Hundred Only
(Rs 200/-) along with the relevant documents in sealed cover.
• The certificate to be submitted by the ‘In-Service’ candidates
should clearly indicate that the person concerned has served the
Government of Rajasthan for at least 2 years after regular
selection / appointment, failing which the application form will be
rejected. No addition / alteration should be made on the prescribed
certificate.

• Application form of ‘In-Service’ candidates is required to be

sent through the Director, Medical and Health Services, Government
of Rajasthan, Jaipur. The form of ‘In-Service’ candidates received
directly will be rejected.
• The jurisdiction of the Court Cases will be at Jaipur.
• Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur shall not be
responsible for not receiving the Application Form on the prescribed
stipulated last date of submission, i.e. 02-7-2011 due to any postal
delay. Therefore, the candidate should ensure that his/her
Application Form is submitted well in time.

The apex court drew guidelines for the management of all educational
institutions to follow. Among them:
Educational institutions should take anti-ragging measures
right from the time of advertisement for admissions. The prospectus, the
form for admission and/or any other literature issued to aspirants for
admission must clearly mention that ragging is banned in the institution
and anyone indulging in it is likely to be punished appropriately which
may include expulsion from the institution, suspension from the institution
or classes for a limited period or fine with a public apology.
The punishment may also take the shape of (i) withholding scholarships or
other benefits (ii) debarring from representation in events (iii) withholding
results (iv) suspension or expulsion from hostel or mess. If there be any
legislation governing ragging or any provisions in statute/ordinance, it
should be brought to the notice of the students/parents seeking
admissions. A printed leaflet detailing when and to whom a victim may
turn for information, help and guidance for various purposes, keeping in

view the needs of new entrants, along with their addresses and telephone
numbers should be given to fresher at the time of admissions so that they
need not to look to seniors for help in such matters.
