School is Out, Summer is In!

Parents are looking forward to having their student(s) home for the summer. It will be a great time for your family if you plan and prepare ahead of time. Dont waste these months with your children and look back with regret, having failed to make any memories. It is important to have both structure and schedule in your home during these lazy, hazy days of summer. For those who have had students graduate, you never stop being a parent. No matter what age they are, what age you are, or how close or far way you are from each other, you never stop caring about your childs well being! As your children become adults, the decisions they face carry even greater consequences. Here are a few suggestions that might be a help to you during these summer months: 1. If you want children to keep their feet on the ground, put some responsibility on their shoulders. Give your children some work to do this summer, and do not let them play all day long. 2. Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children. What will your children remember about the summer of 2011? 3. Children have more need of models than of critics. 4. 5. Children need love, especially when they do not deserve it! To bring up a child in the way he should go, travel that way yourself once in a while. Dont disapprove of what your child is disapprove of what he does. Give attention and praise for good behavior, not bad behavior. Correction should be swift, reasonable and related to the offense. Be honest. Dont expect your children to demonstrate more self-control than you do. Take time to play with your children. Plan that vacation, and have days filled with fun and laughter! Make home a spiritual place this summer. A spiritual inheritance is a legacy of good character, integrity, love, a good name, freedom from bondage, and blessings from God. Make your home a haven. Home should be one of the safest, calmest places on earth.

Your relationship to Jesus Christ is central to the answer to that question.

We are, by nature, sinners who stand guilty and condemned before our Creator and Judge. In our thoughts and actions, we have disobeyed His perfect standards. We are sinners (Romans 3:10, 23). We are helpless to save ourselves. Forgiveness is a gift to be received, not a reward that can be earned. We need a Saviour (Ephesians 2:8-9). Because of His love for us, God provided salvation through His Son, Jesus. He became a member of the human family, lived without sin, and died on the cross to pay for our sins. Jesus is the Saviour (Romans 5:8; John 3:16). Salvation is an individual matter and requires a personal response on the part of anyone that wants to be saved. All who acknowledge their sin and place their trust in Christ are adopted as Gods children (Romans 10:9, 13).
