Rainbow Papers to Expand Capacity
Sector : Paper | Subsector : Paper | Current Status : Under Implementation Rainbow Papers is planning to increase its paper production capacity. The project involves increasing the capacity from 1.83 lakh tpa to 3.85 lakh tpa at its paper plant located at Village Rajpur, Kadi Taluk in North Gujarat. The new facility will manufacture value added products like Thermal, Non-carbon , glazed, light weight paper, coated and crepe paper. The project also includes a 20 MW captive power plant. The project is estimated to cost Rs.7000 million. As of June 2011, the project is under implementation. The project is expected to be completed in September 2011. processing low-grade hematite iron ore having Fe content of 51-53 per cent. The beneficiation process involves removal of impurities in iron ore and enriching low-grade ore to high-grade for using it as a raw material in steel making. As of June 2011l the company has appointed M N Dastur & Company (P) Limited to prepare the Techno Economic Feasibility Report (TEFR) to set up the plant. As and when the report is ready the company will approach the board and the steel ministry for the final approval, Once both the ministries give their approval the proposal will be forwarded to Cabinet committee on economic affairs for final approval. PROINSO, the Spanish multinational company has bagged a contract for supplying 2 MW solar project located in the state of Maharastra. The Spanish company is a specialist in distribution of modules, inverters, trackers and fixed structures for solar photovoltaic installations. Vestas has bagged an order from Orient Green Power Company for its 31 MW wind power project at Eppodum Vendran in TN. Vestas will supply 17 units of V100 1.8MW turbines. Delivery is expected to begin at the end of the year while the project is expected to be completed in early 2012.

Project News in Brief

Teemage Precast has set up a precast concrete production facility at Kangeyam near Erode with an investment of Rs 1000 million to manufacture hollow core slabs, wall panels, beams and columns, pre-stressed stair cases, boundary walls and road barriers. The equipment for the facility has been imported from Germany and Belgium.

Contracts Concluded
Punj Lloyd Group has an EPC Nuclear Power contract from NPCIL worth Rs 6780 million for critical nuclear piping work at four pressurized heavy water reactors (PHWR) of MWe (Mega Watt electric) each. The scope of work includes engineering, procurement and erection and commissioning of nuclear equipment and piping for all the systems inside the nuclear reactor buildings. Out of the 4 PHWR, two are located at Kakrapara Atomic Power Project, KAPP 3&4 near Surat in Gujarat and the other two are at Rajasthan Atomic Power, RAPP 7&8 near Kota in Rajasthan. The contract is scheduled to be completed in four years.
