Power House Switchyard Area Sections (Drg. no. 1254-EM-04):A. General: 1. All general comments for Switchyard Layout (Drg. no. 1254EM-03) should be considered for this drawing also. 2. Since this drawing is sectional representation of switchyard layout (Drg. no. 1254-EM-03), it should have a complete match. 3. This drawing need not have a legend. Although legend given has no correlation with this drawing. B. Section-1 1. Insulators used (Suspension or Tension) in switchyard layout (Drg. no. 1254-EM-03) same should be reflected in the section view. 2. Symbol for insulator at STR, supporting lines from generator -transformer side is to be corrected. 3. Connection to CT in the generator-transformer side is not in line with switchyard layout (Drg. no. 1254-EM-03).

4. Connection support for CB in this drawing has been provided by suspension insulator while in switchyard layout (Drg. no. 1254-EM-03) it has been shown for a tension type insulator. It should same in both. 5. Symbol for insulator used in between GANTRY supporting 132kV Bus -II is to be corrected. 6. Wave Traps to be shown in the sections as commented before. 7. Connections for 132kV line feeder are not clear in this drawing. 8. Bus selector isolator symbol should be identical. 9. Phase to phase spacing in both 132kV Bus -I and Bus-II should be same in the drawing. 10. Clearance between phase and neutral (both generator-transformer side and 132kV line feeder side) should be same.

C. Section-2 1. There is no live connection to the phases between gantries (One located at a distance of 14.6m and other at 27.4m). It should be connected and properly shown in the drawing. 2. It should be reviewed for the need of post insulator support for wires emanating from isolators. 3. Connections to 132kV BUS-I Should be made through the use of suspension type insulator.

Comments on Write up DC Supply System 1. AH Rating of proposed 220V battery & 48V DC battery bank has not been indicated & needs to be sized optimally. Supporting calculation for DC battery system needs to be submitted. 2. It may be reviewed to opt for two sets of 220V DC battery bank inside the power house and two sets of 220V DC battery bank for switchyard. For other voltage requirement suitable DC/DC converters can be used for both locations. For Dam site also suitable arrangement for DC power needs to be proposed in DPR. 14.8 400kV Switchyard

1. The write up given under this clause include the double bus bar arrangement, however, the scheme proposed in the drawing indicate double bus bar with by-pass isolator arrangement. This needs to be verified & corrected. 2. The basis for selection criteria for switching scheme considering technoeconomic benefit may also be provided for Arun -III project.

S.No. Comments on Wind Load calculation 1. a. As specified in Technical specification wind load calculation has to be carried out for design wind pressure 195Kgf/m2. b. Design wind speed for above said comes out to be 56.45 m/s. (Refer IS-802, Part-I, page-4). Unit Wind load on Aluminum Conductor: Formula to be used Wf= C.C d .Kz. Gf.Vd2 .I.(Di + 2ri) (Refer IEEE-605-1998 , page-14) After Calculation it has to be multiplied by total length of conductor used both side of the isolator divided by two. Unit Wind load on Contact Arm: Formula to be used Wf= C.C d .Kz. Gf.Vd2 .I.(Di + 2ri) (Refer IEEE-605-1998 , page-14) After Calculation it has to be multiplied by length of contact arm. Wind Force on Insulator: Formula Used is correct. (Refer IEEE-605-1998 , page-27). Value of constant C to be used is 2.132 X 10 -4 . 5. Value of Constants C = 2.132 X 10 -4 Cd = 1 Kz = 1 Gf = 0.85(Exposure Type C) I = 1.15 (Refer IEEE-605-1998 , page-14,15)
