1.7 Functional requirements

1.7.1 EBD fault indication
The BSM node shall send the EBD status (Fail_Not_Present, Fail_Present) throught the signal "EBDFailSts". This signal indicates the EBD module fail status inside the BSM unit. When the BSM node is power-up (ignition ON) the CAN signal "EBDFailSts" SHALL assume the value "Fail_Not_Present". When the BSM node is power-up the signal "EBDFailSts" can assume the value "Fail_Present" only if one of the following condition is valid : the BSM has finish the internal check and at least one fail is confirmed. there was at least one fail present in the preceding ignition cycle and this fail has still not been devalidated. the BSM is in "ENABLE undervoltage monitoring diagnosis" (see "Flow Diagram - Enable / Disable undervoltage monitoring diagnosis" )

1.7.2 ABS fault indication

The BSM node shall send the ABS status (Fail_Not_Present, Fail_Present) throught the signal ABSFailSts, coded as in the paragraph 1.7.3. / 1.7.4.. This signal rapresent the fail status of ABS module inside the BSM unit. When the BSM node is power-up (ignition ON) the CAN signal "ABS_FailSts" SHALL assume the value "Fail_Not_Present". When the BSM node is power-up the signal "ABS_FailSts" can assume the value FAIL only if one of the following condition is valid : the BSM has finish the internal check and at least one fail is confirmed. there was at least one fail present in the preceding ignition cycle and this fail has still not been devalidated. the BSM is in "ENABLE undervoltage monitoring diagnosis" (see "Flow Diagram - Enable / Disable undervoltage monitoring diagnosis" )

1.7.3 ASR/ESP indication

1.7.3.1 ASR/ESP fault indication
The BSM node shall send the ASR ans ESP status (Not Fail, Fail) throught the signal "TC_ASRFailSts" and "VDCFailSts", these signals rapresent the fail status of ASR and ESP module inside the BSM unit. When the BSM node is power-up (ignition ON) the CAN signal "TC_ASRFailSts" and "VDCFailSts" SHALL assume the value NOT FAIL. When the BSM node is power-up the signal "TC_ASRFailSts" and "VDCFailSts" can assume the value FAIL only if one of the following condition is valid : the BSM has finish the internal check and at least one fail is confirmed. there was at least one fail present in the preceding ignition cycle and this fail has still not been devalidated. the BSM is in "ENABLE undervoltage monitoring diagnosis" (see "Flow Diagram - Enable / Disable undervoltage monitoring diagnosis" )

1.7.3.2 ASR/ESP intervention indication

The BSM node shall send the ASR and ESP intervention status (No_intervention, Intervention_blinking_lamp) throught the signal "TC_ASRIntervention" and "VDCIntervention". When these signal assume the value "Intervention_blinking_lamp", this value shall be kept at least for Time = "T_Intervention" .

1.7.4 Body Control Module functionality

In this function the BCM is the gateway for the can network.

1.8 Indication and text message

1.8.1 Indication strategy
IPC manages the EBD warning indication according to the following table: EBD Warning Lamp OFF ON EBD failure indication No Indication Indication on dashboard
STATUS_B-BSM.EBDFailSts

0 1

IPC manages the ABS warning indication according to the following table: ABS Warning Lamp OFF ON ABS warning indication No Indication Indication on dashboard
STATUS_B_BSM.ABSFailSts

0 1

IPC manages the ESP, ASR and HillHolder warning and intervention indications according to the following table (the signals are referring to STATUS_B_BSM):

ESP Lamp

ESP, ASR, HH Indications

Off On On Blink (4 Hz, d.c. 50 %)

No Indication ESP/ASR Indication on dashboard Hill Holder Indication on dashboard ASR or ESP intervention

TC_ASRFailSts TC_ASRIntervention VDCFailSts VDCIntervention HillHolderFailSts 0 0 0 0 0 1 X X X X X X 1 X X X X X X 1 0 1 0 X 0 0 X 0 1 0

1.The ESP warning Lamp can be ON if some other indication requires the lamp to be ON. 2. X = dont care.

NOTA : If "HillHolderFailSts" is set to "Fail_present" AND the signal "VDCIntervention" is set to "Intervention_Blinking_Lamp" the "ESP Lamp" must switch "ON"

1.8.2 Indication management

IPC shall switch "ON" EBD, ABS, ESP lamps for Time = "TLampCheck" at each Key ON. * The detection time is defined as the time that is beetween the fault relevation and its storing.

1.9.2.2 Configuration parameters description

BrakeSystemTypeVariant Through this parameter the BSM knows which type of brake system is foreseen on the car. IPC must read this value and implement as it follows: if value==ABS, then IPC must enable only ABS related lamps and messages. if value==VDC, then IPC must enable all VDC related lamps and messages. In case of mismatch information between BrakeSysteTypevariant and BSM type (i.e.: car variant = ABS, BSM type = ESP), the ECU shall store a fault (see SDF document) and disable the node functionality (lamps ON). For detailed lamps and messages description, "Specifiche Indicazioni IPC" must be used as reference document.
