If you have some question about operation and maintenance, please contact to your technical representative. Also if any of abnormal conditions occurs, stop using the printer immediately to turn off power and contact to your technical representative.

NOTICE ON SAFTY
If any of follow conditions occurs, stop using the printer immediately, turn off the power switch on the front of printer, and unplug the printer from the main power socket. Make sure the burning has stopped and then contact your technical representative to request repairs. Operating this printer when it is emitting smoke, is unusually hot to the touch, is emitting an unusual odor or noise, or is in any other abnormal state. If water gets into the printer. If foreign object get inside the printer. Do not continue to use the printer, or you risk fire or electric shock. If any of above conditions occurs, stop using the printer immediately, turn off the power switch on the front of printer, and unplug the printer from the main

Do not connect the printer to any voltage other than the indicated power supply voltage. You may have to risk fire or electric shock.

Stop to use power cable, when plug is loosen. Do not bend strongly and crush power cable. Do not remove the printerpower cable from the power socket by pulling s on the cable. Doing so could damage the cable and lead to fire or electric shock. Always grasp the plug itself and pull. Keep away power cable from heating appliance. Insert connecter of power cable completely to power plug.

NOTICE ON OPERATION
Be careful follow during operation to prevent you risk fire or electric shock. Do not modify the printer by yourself. Contact to your technical representative for repair, readjustment and inspection.

Do not place flower vases, plant pots, cups or other vessels containing cosmetics, medicines or water on top of printer. Do not give a shock. Do not place small metal objects on top of printer. Such items could spill or fall inside the printer and cause fire or electric shock. Do not use continuity the printer, if the printer has got water, liquid or small metal. Do not do abnormal operation. The printer is damaged and you may suffer injury. Do not do operation with removed cover. Do not torch the thermal head few minutes after making print. You may have burn by heat.

OTHER NOTICE ON OPERATION


Be careful also following items with operation. Do not give damage or vibration to the printer. This is a precision machine. It may cause machine down. Do not carry the printer with paper, ribbon and accessory into the printer together. And use the packing box came from factory. It may cause machine down. Stop to use the printer for a moment with power off, if the printer has had moisture due to the printer moved from cool area to warm area so on. This applies paper and ribbon. Printer has whether paper and ribbon jamming or machine down. Do not turn switch off the printer during operation with no problem. There is fear to eliminate data and program from the printer. Do not install the printer near TV, trance, motor, speaker, magnet and so on (magnetic substance). It may cause machine down. Do not install near TV and radio. Printer generate an electric wave, and receiver receives jamming.

HOW TO HANDL PAPER AND RIBBON


Use glove when touching paper. If you touch a paper with one's bare hands for setting paper, print may have dirtied. For keeping paper and ribbon, following condition is necessary < Temperature: less than 30, Humidity: less than 70% > Use genuine paper and ribbon only. If you use other companypaper, printer has paper or ribbon s jamming or machine down with no service and repair.

Altering paper guide width


Paper width may be switched between 6 (152mm) and 5 (127mm). (Attention) DPB-6000 is set 6 paper width from factory. If you want to use printer with 5 inch paper, please do follow.

Paper width change: Shift paper guide (left/right) positions


By opening the front door, you will find white color of the paper guides. Step 1: Remove the fixing screw of left/right paper width guide (white) Step 2: Shift paper guide position to find the fixing position of the desired width. Step 3: Fix the position using the fixing screw. Step 4: Attach the spacer for 5 (127mm) width to left/right paper core guide. Note: Spacer is not needed when 6 (152mm) paper is used.

Installation of Printer Driver from CD 1 To install Printer Driver


(1) Log-in as Administrator or with the authority of Administrator. (2) When Printer is connected, plug and play will start and will request Printer Driver.

(In case of Windows XP SP2 (3) Specify the location where Printer Driver is stored. (Warning message will be displayed. And click the Continue Anyway button to proceed.)

(4) Installation of Printer Driver is completed.

2 Functions
Printer Driver has following functions. Display version number Function to Set the layout Switching between Black & White and Color Setting of media size Setting of print quality Color correction Actual screen image

Display Version Number (Screen image shown below is an example. may differ from this example).

Layout

[Orientation] This will let you specify vertical or horizontal printing direction. Fitting the image to the specified orientation of the media will be done by the Application Software. [Page Order] Printing sequence is specified. It is necessary that the Application Software has the function to output multiple pages. [Pages Per Sheet] Multiple pages may be combined into one page. It is necessary that the Application Software has the function to output multiple pages.

[Black & White] Image will be printed in black and white. [Color]Default Image will be printed in color.

Paper Size

[Paper Size] Media size is selected. It is necessary that the setting of the media here matches the type of media (ink ribbon and paper) actually set in the printer. Color correction

[Select file]
This will let you choose an image that you like to preview. displayed. At Default, the image shown above is By clicking this button and by choosing an image, the center portion (256x256) of the

selected image will be displayed for a preview.

[Save configration]
You may save color correction data you set. [Load configuration]. Once the data is saved, it may be called out by

[Load configration]
Color correction data saved by [Save configration] may be called out to apply it again.

[Default setting]
Data may be reset to the original values. Displayed image will return to the standard image.

[Brightness]
[Function]: Alters the brightness of the image [Range]: (Dark) -10 to 0 to +10 (Bright)

[Contrast]
[Function]: Alter the contrast of the image [Range]: (Low) 10 to 0 to +10 (High)

[Saturation]
[Function]: Alter color saturation of the image [Range](Low) 10 to 0 to +10 (High)

[Sharpness]
[Function]: Alter sharpness of the image [Range]: (No adjustment) 0 to +7 (Strong)

[Resize]
[Function]: Enlarge/reduce image size [Range]: (Reduce) 90 to 100 to 110 (Enlarge)

[Natural color]
[Function]: Applies natural color matching [Range]: On/Off

[Red (Cyan)]
[Function]: Alter image color [Range]: -10 to 0 to +10

[Green (Magenta)]
[Function]: Alter image color [Range]: -10 to 0 to +10

[Blue (Yellow)]
[Function]: Alter image color [Range]: -10 to 0 to +10

[Unsharp mask]
[Function]: To apply unsharp mask [Range]: On or Off

[Amount]
[Function]: Set unsharp mask level The level here means the amount of increase in contrast of pixel. [Range]: 100% to 150 to 400% (in the step of 25%)

[Radius]
[Function]: Set the radius of unsharp mask range Radius indicates the value how sharp the pixels around edge pixels may be made. [Range]: 0.1 to 1.0 to 3.0 (in the step of 0.1)

[Threshold]
[Function]: Set the threshold value for unsharp mask When the difference between pixels and surrounding pixels exceeds the threshold value, these pixels will be considered edge pixels for sharpness adjustment. [Range]: 0 to 5 to +20 (in the step of 1)

3 To update Printer Driver


If the Driver is already installed and the Driver needs to be updated, please take the following steps. Please note that following procedure will not let you go back to the older version Driver. (1) At [Start] menu, select [Printer and Faxes] to open. right click, open menu and select [Properties]. Select DPB-6000 Printer. With

(2) Select [Advanced] and click [New Driver] .

(3) Driver Wizard screen will be displayed.

Click [Next>]

(4) Driver selection screen will be displayed.

Click [Have Disk] and select drive and folder

where the new driver is located by [Browse].

(5) Select the Driver and click [Next>]

(6) Click [Finish] to update Driver. (7) If you are asked to confirm the location of the driver again during the update, please specify the drive and folder where the new driver is stored.

4 To delete Printer Driver


Please take following steps if you need to delete printer driver. (1) At [Start] menu, select [Printer and Faxes] (2) Select Printer name to be deleted and select [Delete] from [File] menu.

(3) At [File] menu, select [Server Properties].

(4) Click [Drivers] and select the printer name which you need to delete from [Installed printer drivers].

(5) Click [Remove] and [OK]

The LED indicates current printer condition with combination between condition of STATUS (Blue) and ERROR (Red).

3. Operation
(1) Setting roll paper
(Note 1) Use of cloth gloves is recommended while handling the roll paper. (Fingerprints may stick to prints to cause problem on printed image) (Note 2) If paper end or ribbon end is reached during operation, please replace both roll paper and ribbon at the same time with keeping the power of the printer on. * * * If paper end is reached during continuous printing, print will automatically continue after setting paper. If power is turned off during the operation of changing paper/ribbon, data will be lost. One roll paper and one Ink ribbon are both designed to make 600 prints of 6x4 size. When one (roll paper or ink ribbon) becomes empty, please replace both at the same time. Preparation: Prepare new roll paper and new ink ribbon DPB-6000 power should be on

After setting paper/ribbon, close the front door until it becomes securely locked.

(4) Checking before printing operation

4. Daily Maintenance
Please make sure that dust will not enter into the printer If you find symptom on print that may be caused by dust, please clean feed roller inside the front door, Print Head, paper tray and ribbon tray sections. (Note) Please use ethyl alcohol or isopropyl alcohol as cleaning solvent.

Please clean the paper tray section and platen roller with clean and wet but well squeezed cloth. For dirt, which is difficult to remove such as by small portion of ribbon sticking, please clean using soft cloth (like gauze) wet with ethyl alcohol. Paper Tray

To clean Print Head, please use dry soft cloth like a lens cleaner. Do not use ethyl alcohol against head damage.

Monthly maintenance
(Note) If filter is extremely dirty, please replace it with a new filter (Replace after 3 to 6 months)

Remove air filter as following procedure and sweep air filter clean. (These air filters are static electricity type. Do not wash quite air filter, since efficacy goes down and printer may has trouble. )

5. Troubleshooting
(1) Ribbon break down
Turn off DPB power and follow steps described below. Step 1. Open front door, apply tape to put together the cut off portion of the ink ribbon

Wrap the ribbon a few times around take-up core * Ribbon set position Ribbon should be set in a way that OP (transparent area of the ribbon) is positioned in the area between unused ribbon and take-up core. Rotate ribbon core to the ribbon set position with removing the ribbon crease. Front side is Supply core and Rear side is Take-up core.

Wrap the ribbon a few times around take-up core and remove ribbon crease

(Note) Please check the paper. If a half processed print is on the paper, please be sure to cut off this portion before setting the paper roll in position

Step 3.

Turn on power of Printer.

After making sure that Error LED (red) went off, press

cut button to chop off paper leading portion (10 cm)

(2) Damage at paper leading edge


Turn off power of DPB and follow steps described below. Step 1. Open front door, check to see if paper jam is found in the paper feed section by taking out the paper leading portion. Step 2. Step 3. Step 4. Step 5. Cut off damaged portion of the paper in straight line using scissors, if there is damage. Wind back the paper leading portion to the Roll paper. Turn on DPB power. Set Roll Paper and Ink Ribbon again. After checking that the LED is in Ready state (blue lit), press cut button to chop off paper leading portion (10 cm) Cut

(3) White dots on print


Please turn off DPB power before taking following steps. Symptom: White dot appears in fixed interval on print in the direction of paper feed
