Project Description: This project is maintenance and development project on as/400 which has two applications 1. Chain Applications CHAIN application on as/400 machines of business unit cargo system of KLM information system This application deals with all the cargo system right from its entry into system to the delivery of cargo. There are various checks done on type, weight, worth and destination on the cargo and then prices are levied to it for its handling. 2. Alpine Application ALPINE application on as/400 machines are mostly used for ticket related accounting. This is mostly Batch jobs which take care of the cash inflow-debit. Credit and balancing The whole project nearly has 150 screens-programs and 80 batch jobs which fulfill the necessity of the KLM for their cargo and accounting system. The team is of nearly 6 members. The work is done mainly on as/400 technology which involve Cobol/400, Cl/400 and db/400

Create Unicode-enabled version of a leading software

The US Company is a leading provider of software products and services in the Rental Industry in the USA. The company decided to Unicode-enable one of its products as a

strategic initiative for Globalization. The present project is for entering the Chinese market. The project involves two phases (a) software modifications, and (b) testing. The modifications to the software make it possible to acquire, store, and retrieve data seamlessly in both Chinese and English languages. This feature is relevant for alphanumeric data. Every Unicode-enabled field takes twice the original storage. Therefore, only some of the fields were Unicode-enabled the fields that would store information like the names of people, the descriptions of items, addresses, search words, etc. Changes to Physical Files are required for storing the Chinese language data. The data type of the field changes from CHARACTER to GRAPHICAL (CCSID 1200. Unicodeenablement is relatively new and IBM is not yet fully geared up to seamlessly support Unicode in applications developed using RPGLE & CLLE. Hence, Logical Files, Display Files, and Printer Files, and RPGLE & CLLE programs also need modifications We used X-Analysis tool developed by Databorough for the Unicode conversion process. The tool automated some of the modifications, but the more complex changes had to be handled manually. we are testing the Unicode-enabled version and resolving issues that we come across.

The objective of our project was to develop a tool that can help in easy configuration of Servers in Linux. To configure a server we had to edit the configuration files provided by Linux, which is a very tedious task because we have to remember the number of parameters. Also wrong configuration may corrupt the original files and will require reinstallation of Linux. In our project we have developed an interface by which one can configure the different servers very easily without mistake. The interface directly updates the original configuration file, which avoid the file to corrupt. We have configured the Samba, Apache, NFS, FTP, and SendMail Servers in our project and are used in the college, which is running successfully. To achieve this, complete design and coding of different parts has been done under guidance of our project guide.
