Lesson Overview This lesson provides an overview of the international and domestic certificates carried on board and the requirements of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Context and Rationale The duties and responsibilities of the Master include among other things a comprehensive knowledge of certificates and documents carried on board. These documents expedite departures, arrivals; clearances and port state control measures and are essential for the day to day operation of the vessel.
