GRADEREPORTS
th th Twoprogressreportsareissuedatthe6 and12 th weekofschool.Areportcardisissuedatthe18 weekofschool. Allprogressreportsandreport th cardsaremailedhome. Afterthe18 week,final gradeswillbeplacedonastudentstranscript.

Teacherchangerequests
Studentrequestswill notbeconsidereduntil the rd endof the lastdayofthe 3 weekofschool.All th th changeshavetooccurbetweenthe 4 and6 week ofschool.Atthattimenochangewillbeinitiated untilthefollowingstepshavebeenfollowedin progressiveorderasstatedbelow. Anystudentthathasmorethan70%intheclassfor whichtherequestisbeingmadewillnotbe consideredforachange.Animmediatechangecan occurifastudenthashadpriorhistorywitha teacherthatisunfavorable,i.e.failinggradeor behavioralissues. STEPS 1. Thestudentmeetswiththeteachertodiscuss problemareas.Thisshouldbedoneassoonas possible.Tutoringorextrahelpshouldbe arranged.Itisthestudentsresponsibilityto arrangeforameeting. 2. Aparentmakescontactwiththeteacherand discussesstepsthatneedtooccurinorderfor theirchildtobesuccessfulinthatclass. Reasonableeffortshouldbemadebythe studenttomeetexpectationsofthisdiscussion. 3. Aparentmakescontactwiththegradelevel counselortodiscusstheirstudentprogress. Theparentshouldbepreparedtodiscusssteps thathavebeentakeninordertohelptheirchild meetclassexpectations. 4. Aphonecontactandawrittenformalrequest aresubmittedtotheAssociatePrincipal. 5. Ameetingshouldbearrangedwiththe AssociatePrincipal,parentandstudent.The parentshouldbereadytobringcopiesof studentworktopresenttotheAssociate Principal. UnresolvedissueswiththeAssociatePrincipalcan bereferredtothePrincipal.

WITHDRAWALFAILURE(WF) Astudent/parentmayinitiatedroppingaclass withoutpenaltyuntiltheendofthe6th weekof eachsemester.Afterthatdate,withdrawalwill resultinaWFgradeonthestudentstranscript thatwillbecomputedintheiroverallGPAasanF grade. WITHDRAWALORNOGRADEFOR ATTENDANCE Inanyclasswhereastudenthasaccumulated7cuts he/shewillreceiveaWF,withdrawalfailure.A studentwillreceiveanNG,no grade,fortardies st (15for1 period,10forperiods26)andhaving notattendedSaturdaySchool.

INCOMPLETEGRADE(INC) Asemesterincomplete(INC)grademaybeissued byateacher,withadministrativeapproval,whena studenthasnotcompletedthecourserequirements dueto anextendedabsenceorextenuating circumstances. Thestudentwillhave20daysafterthe beginningof6weekstocompletetherequired workandreceiveapassinggrade.An incompletegradenotresolvedbythattimewill bechangedtoanF. HONORSLEVELCLASS TheUniversityofCaliforniaandtheCalifornia StateUniversitymaygrantcreditforallCollege BoardAdvancedPlacementTestsonwhicha studentscores3orhigher.Thecreditmaybe subjectcredit,graduationcredit,orcredittoward generaleducationorbreadthrequirements,as determinedbyevaluatorsateachcampus. AdvancedPlacement
AdvancedPlacementclassesareofferedat MilpitasHighSchool. TheAdvancedPlacement(AP)programisa cooperativeendeavorthathelpsablehighschool studentscompletecollegelevelcoursesand permitscollegestoevaluate,acknowledge,and encouragethataccomplishmentthroughthe grantingofappropriatecreditand/orplacement. TheAPProgramisnationalinscopeitspolicies aredeterminedbyrepresentativesoftheCollege Boardmemberinstitutionsandagenciesthroughout thecountry(publicandprivatesecondaryschools, colleges,anduniversities)andareimplementedby theCollegeBoard.EnrollmentsinAPclassesat MHSaredonethroughtheprocessofopen enrollment. StudentswillbeallowedtoenrollinanAP CourseiftheyturnintheAPAgreement/AP TeacherContactFormatthesametimeastheir schedulingcard. 4. AllAPAgreement/APTeacherContactForms shouldbeturnedinwithaschedulingcard duringcounselorpickupdays. 5. FailuretoturninanAPAgreement/AP TeacherContactFormsby3/1/2010willresult inthestudentnotbeingenrolledinanAPclass.

AlternativeEducational Programs
MilpitasUnifiedSchoolDistrictoffersavarietyof alternativeeducationalprograms.Eachprogram providesspecializedopportunitiesthatleadtohigh schoolgraduation,diplomaequivalencytesting, continuingeducationalopportunitiesand/or vocational/careertraining.Eachprogramissetup onavoluntarybasisallowingthestudenttoself selectaccordingtoperceivedneeds.Placementto eachprogramiswithparentpermissionandthrough eithertheschoolcounselorortheAssistant Principalinchargeofeachprogram.
