Jesus Message from the Hillside Matthew 5-7 What is the overall radical thought in each of these sections? 5:3-12 These Blesseds reveal a key to the eternal goal achieved through early action/attitude/condition. 1. Luke 6 says poor . Earthly wealth does not correspond to eternal riches. 2. Pain in this life (for the right reason) will draw eternal comfort 3. Humility is the key to the gifts of God 4. Living water of Christ is the only thing that satisfies 5. Sowing and reaping 6. Tells you the condition of the heart required to enter into God s kingdom 7. Like Jesus 8. Suffering for righteousness is in direct proportion to our resistance of sin 9. Suffering for Christ is the best way to guarantee reward from God 5:13-16 If you aren t causing thirst in people for Christ, you are not a useful part of the Body of Christ 2. Be bold and shine the light 5:20 righteousness is not revealed in what we say but what we do 5:21-22 Hate=murder (we have no right to hate) 5:23-24 Worship cannot occur if we have anything against anyone 5:27-28 adultery is an attitude first 5:29-30 What are you willing to do to avoid sinning?

Week 4 Reckless Abandon 5:31-32 covenants are not easily broken 5:33-37 If you are a person of integrity, you do not need oaths 5:38-42 Why do we put our honor over God s honor?

5:43-48 Love is a verb and best demonstrated on the un-lovable in the eyes of the World 6:1-4 The secret work of the believer produces rewards from the father God honors humility 6:1-8 You can t woo God with your prayers. They don t make you spiritual. Pray to God, not to man. 6:14-15 Forgiveness is not optional 6:19-21 The only thing that matters is that which is eternal 6:22 Guard your gates 6:24 Don t split your devotions one God, act like it 6:25-34 Worry is caused by motives in the wrong place 7:1-5 judging is equally based, it should be built upon helping your brothers 7:6 There are times when we must wash our hands and move on 7:7-12 The golden rule is for those not yet ready to do unto others because Christ first did unto me. 7:13-14 The path to destruction is wide, and many follow it. Rescue as many as possible. 7:15-20 Good fruit is the goal 7:21-23 It is not just about doing for God, it is mostly about knowing God.
