TCA How to dismantle

This brochure provides a quick demonstration of how simple maintenance of a TCA turbocharger is. For a more detailed description of assembly and maintenance please refer to the Operating Manuals / Work Cards.

MAN Diesel TCA Turbocharger

Step 1 Remove silencer from compressor casing

Removal of the silencer is carried out as a unit and required for all work to be performed from the compressor side.

>> Inspection of silencer via rear opening

Step 2 Remove insert from compressor casing

Disassembly of the insert enables removal of the compressor wheel and the thrust bearing without having to disassemble the compressor casing.

>> Inspection and manual cleaning of compressor wheel

Step 3 Remove compressor wheel from rotor shaft

A new type of force and form locking compressor wheel attachment on the turbine shaft permits assembly and disassembly of the compressor wheel without having to use a complex hydraulic tool. This new, MAN patented shaft/hub connection sets the standard with regard to quick and easy maintenance.

>> Inspection or replacement of thrust bearing and bearing disc
