OVERVIEW
This section explains how to switch from IFD SW to VTC SW and from VTC SW to IFD SW. Control board ES778 is provided with two programmable devices: Flash 29F010 (U46 integrated) DSP 320F240 (U12 integrated)

They are used to run IFD SW or VTC SW and are both required when switching from one application software to the other. Do the following: 1) Flash: because IFD SW and VTC SW are both installed, just set the special jumper to a different position; 2) DSP: because either IFD SW or VTC SW is installed, the device is to be reprogrammed. The software is divided into two parts, which must necessarily match. The SW Version installed is stated in the labels applied to DSP and flash memory. FLASH Code Example IKxxyyVKvvzzF0 IK1310VK1011F0 DSP IFD SW IkxxyyG0 IK1300G0 DSP VTC SW VKvvzzG0 VK1002G0

The flash code includes the following fields: IK: The 4 figures which follow IK stand for the revised version of IFD SW xxyy: Revised version of IFD SW installed on FLASH memory (1310 in the example) xx: Revised version of FLASH SW, that must match with the DSP program (compatible DSP programs start with IK13: e.g. IK1300, IK1301, etc.) yy: revised version independently of DSP program. VK: The 4 figures which follow VK stand for the revised version of VTC SW vvzz: Revised version of VTC SW installed on FLASH memory (1002 in the example) vv: Revised version of FLASH SW, that must match with the DSP program (compatible DSP programs start with VK10: e.g. VK1000, VK1001, etc.) zz: revised version independently of DSP program. From the flash code, you can infer which versions of the DSP program may be installed (see above). Among the compatible versions, we suggest that you install the version having the higher revision code. The SW active version is displayed in the Measure menu (see section 5.2, INVERTER RATINGS in the Programming Manual). Once programming is over, if the SW selected for the flash does not match with the motor control SW for the DSP (one is setup for IFD SW and the other for VTC SW), an alarm trips and Leds VL and IL start flashing (see section 8.3 DISPLAY AND INDICATOR LEDS in the Programming Manual). Otherwise, if both devices are setup for IFD SW or VTC SW but their revised versions are incompatible, alarm A01 Wrong Software trips (see section 8.2 ALARMS in the Programming Manual).

FLASH PROGRAMMING
FLASH 29F010 performs the user interface for the inverter by managing the parameters and functionality described above. Use jumper J15 to select IFD SW or VTC SW. Do the following to remove the inverter cover and gain access to jumper J15: - remove voltage from the inverter and wait at least one minute when the keypad backlit display turns off (if no keypad is fit, wait at least one minute when the indicator Leds for voltage detection in the control board are off) - remove remotable keypad - remove terminal board cover - remove inverter top (to do so, first loosen the special fixing screws, then remove the inverter top) Set jumper J15 to position 2-3 for IFD SW, to position 1-2 for VTC SW.

CAUTION

Remove voltage from the inverter first!

DSP PROGRAMMING
DSP TMS320F240 (U12 in control board ES778) performs the motor control and may be reprogrammed in in-circuit mode. Once setting the jumper selecting the active SW, DSP should be reprogrammed to obtain application SW matching. A dedicated RS232 serial port is required for ordinary programming (connector CN1). CAUTION CAUTION Only competent personnel is allowed to reprogram the equipment. In case of power failure while programming, DSP cannot be recovered via serial link. In that case, use a JTAG port to reprogram the equipment (please contact ELETTRONICA SANTERNOs AFTER-SALES SERVICE).

CONNECTING TO PORT RS232

The programming SW and the wire to connect the equipment to port RS232 are provided by Elettronica Santerno. Do the following: 1) Connect the inverter (CN1 connector) to a computer equipped with serial ports COM1 or COM2 using the wire supplied; 2) Set jumpers J1 and J2 to position 2-3 and turn on the inverter (the display will show "link mismatch", as the DSP is locked and waiting to be programmed); 3) Run SPF24XB1.EXE if you are using port COM1 in the computer, or SPF24XB2.EXE if you are using port COM2; 4) When you are asked Enter file name: enter the name of the programming file relating to the SW version to be programmed (e.g. VK1000G0.HEX) (see previous sections for FLASH SW compatibility). Press Enter. Those files may be downloaded from the address www.elettronicasanterno.it;

7) Remove voltage from the inverter and position jumpers J1 and J2 to position 1-2. Possible error messages:

(serial link failures). 8) Reassemble the inverter top and give voltage to the inverter. Control terminals are to be disconnected. No alarm message should be displayed. The page relating to the inverter ratings (Measure menu) should show new data relating to the new programming. The inverter size data should be the same. For example, initial software was VTC SW, type SINUS K 4T 0020 VTC 1011 D 1002 with flash IK1310VK1011 and was to become IFD SW; when programming is over, the display should show SINUSK 4T 0020 IFD 1310 D 1300. 9) Make sure that SW programming is correct: access the SIZE page in the Measure/parameter menu and check that the new data are displayed.

Field JJJJ relates to the application SW programmed (IFD SW or VTC SW). Field w.www relates to the FLASH SW Version. Field z.zzz relates to the DSP SW version.

ALARMS RELATING TO SW SELECTION PROCEDURE

If the SW selection procedure is not properly performed, the following alarm condition may occur: 1) The inverter does not start. Leds VL and IL start flashing (see section 8.3 DISPLAY AND INDICATOR LEDS in the Programming Manual). This may occur if the SW type in the DSP does not match with the SW installed in the user interface on FLASH memory (U46, board ES778/2) (one is programmed with IFD SW and the other is programmed with VTC SW). Check position of jumpers J15 and J19. 2) Alarm A01 Wrong Software is displayed (see section 8.2 ALARMS in the Programming Manual). In that case, the SW version in the DSP does not match with the SW version in the FLASH.
