SUMMER INTERNSHIPS
Google India Research Lab, Bangalore (May Jul 2007) Developed a web based tool to estimate optimal cost for datacenter infrastructure decisions. Tool handled cost comparisons across all supported machine configurations. Datacenter visualization Ported existing visualization tool to Java and incorporated machine state and parts information reporting. Teaching Assistant Practice of Programming in Java (May - Jun 2006) Course was taught by Prof. R.K. Joshi and attended by 140 students. KEY ACADEMIC PROJECTS


Optimizer Generator for GCC (B.Tech Project) (Jul 2007 Till Date) Working on modifying the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC) to generate a designer specification based machine independent code optimizer stage of the compiler. Studied the theory required for the implementation and examined and compared various possible specification schemes. Planned the implementation with the optimal specification structure. Study of Network Firewalls (B.Tech Seminar) (Jan Apr 2007) Carried out a detailed literature survey to understand the principles of network firewalls. Compiled from diverse sources, various techniques of securing the firewall architecture. Case Study: Studied IIT Bombay computer network and the security infrastructure. Interacted with Computer Centre (CC) staff and examined how the concepts studied were implemented. Security Mechanisms in Sensor Networks (Jul 2007 Till Date) Implemented and tested security mechanisms supported by the CC2420 sensor mote hardware. Read up on 802.15.4 standard, CC2420 mote specifications and TinyOS architecture. M3G based 3-D game application for mobile devices (Jan Apr 2006) Developed and successfully deployed a 3-D java game for mobile devices. Extensively used MIDP and M3G Java APIs to create an intuitive UI and to render 3-D objects. Appreciated as one of the best projects in the course.

Event Management System (Jul Nov 2006) Developed a web interfaced database management system for an inter-collegiate event. Designed a comprehensive Entity-Relationship model, which covered all facets of the event. Supported registration of participants for events, moderation of people and events by administrators and multiple levels of administrator access rights. Analytic Differentiator (Jul Nov 2004) Developed a generic function differentiator in the freshmen C++ introductory course. Handled algebraic, trigonometric and exponential functions of a single variable and their compositions.

POSITIONS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Institute Middle Layer Committee Member (May 2007 Till Date) Revived freshmen computer orientation. Attended by over 200 students. Collected student feedback regarding LAN curtailment and voiced concerns at the review committee. Convinced the authorities to increase the monthly allowance for hostels along with a two fold increase in the maintenance engineers visit allowance. Working on a web-based tool for system administrators to report engineers visits, work done by them and related grievances to bring accountability in the system. System Administrator Hostel 13 (May 2006 Apr 2007) Managed a network of over 450 computers and efficiently scheduled vendor visits. Maintained a computer room with 15 Linux machines running LDAP, DNS, NFS and CUPS services. Conceptualized and deployed an online library interface and an intra hostel discussion board to increase awareness and interaction among hostel inmates. Represented hostel at Institute level meetings regarding computational facilities. Technical Councillor Comp. Science & Engg. Association (CSEA) (May 2006 Apr 2007) Explored new printer billing mechanisms and worked towards formulating a new printer policy. Created a database of MS/PhD application statistics of graduating classes for the year 2007. Assisted in the organization of various department functions like Traditional day, Department Trek and Valedictory function.

Secured 3rd and 2nd rank in state level MBD Talent Search Quiz in the 9th and 10th standard. Other: NCC cadet passed A level examination with an A grade and attended field camps.
