s been quite a bit of discussion on the Internet about my antigay message. Given the nature of social media and you tube, certain video clips a nd blogs have gone viral, reaching many readers and viewers. Id like to take this opportunity to clarify my intentions and statements concerning homosexuality. I first and foremost preach with a strong sense of responsibility to present Bib lical truth. As part of that Biblical responsibility, I can in no way condone ho mosexuality. I understand, along with every genuine preacher and teacher of the Bible, that it is my vocation to call sin sin and to compel men and women to the path of eternal life Jesus and the Apostles prescribed. That path is forsaking sin and placing faith in Jesus Christ. The video clips most viewed are very short and depict strong statements about ho mosexuality. I wish to clarify my purpose behind making them. The brevity of the video clips do not allow a viewer the opportunity to hear the entirety of my me ssage and heart. Any statements I make concerning homosexuality are in the hopes of turning the h omosexual to the path of eternal life. I talk about homosexuality as I would adu ltery, alcoholism, pornography, drug addiction, etc. As with all sin, I recogniz e its destructive nature and out of love call people away from it. Ministries at which I frequently preach have volumes upon volumes of my messages presenting love, forgiveness, and mercy. I do not hate homosexuals, but I do re cognize that the wages of sin is death. Therefore, I preach in such a way as to offer an opportunity for change because change is a possibility. I know young men and women who have experienced a supernatural repentance and ha ve turned from homosexuality to the love and forgiveness of Jesus. These young p eople I have personally loved and counseled while walking with them to a path of freedom. The overarching message I preach that the short video clips do not cap ture is that Jesus offers a life much more fulfilling and satisfying than the li fe of sin. My heart is that the homosexual forsake sin and place his faith in Je sus Christ. Thank you for taking the time to read my heart. I pray that we all leave this ex perience with greater clarity of truth and with a greater understanding of the p ower of God toward those who believe. The blood and cross of Jesus is big enough to destroy the power of any sin. It is in light of this hope that I preach as I do. -Damon Thompson
