Sample Lesson Plan with Technology by Sharda Class (name, type of student): Writing a Paragraph Class for students

of BSc (Part 1/ Freshman Year 2nd Semester) Hotel Management Students (30 students- 17 boys and 13 girls, Age Bracket: 17-20) Duration: 90 Minutes Materials Technology component downloaded from/accessed in class at: /www.youtube.com/ You may type The Royal Odyssey a Film on Palace on Wheels to get the right film. Other material: Worksheets with Viewing Guidelines and Precise Checklist Back up material: Calendar on Rajasthan, an Indian state, an internationally popular destination among tourists Narration of the film recorded on Cell Phone Script of narration of film Introduction Pre-view: Review of previous lesson: Students have read a brochure on Rajasthan Tourism. Warming up: They can show their acquaintance with Rajasthan by talking about very briefly about some of the tourist attractions in the state as the Teacher asks a few questions. Objectives of this lesson (tell students about them): After watching The Royal Odyssey a Film on the Palace on Wheels on /www.youtube.com/ (C), the students (A) will write a paragraph of 100-150 words (B) and post it on the class web page (D). Procedure View: Presentation (teacher or student), including key vocabulary Viewing film on youtube (10 minutes) The students will watch the film without subtitle. They will guess the theme of the film in pairs. They will exchange their first impressions of what appeals to them with the help of 2-3 questions from the Teacher. Viewing film on youtube (10 minutes) The students will watch the film with subtitles to catch certain phrases linked with certain visuals. This turn of viewing can also address Spelling. Vocabulary (10 minutes) The lexical phrases are given in the worksheet. The students will work in pairs telling each other which visuals the phrases illustrate. The exact recall will be aided by the Teacher at the end of the activity.

Technology alternative (in case things don't work as planned): The hard copy of the entire narration will be read aloud by the teacher, illustrated with the help of a seven page calendar displaying the seven day trip. The Cell Phone will carry the narration as a substitute. Review before the end of the class session: The students can read aloud some of the paragraphs written by them. Homework: This will be a mini project work. The students will be asked to video record a 2-3 minutes film of a place of interest in their city giving appropriate narration, i.e. a guided tour. It can be a park, a monument, a lake or river or even their university campus. They will upload it on the class wiki for other to watch. They can have a discussion reviewing it in the class. Sharda
