1. How ….. (=Betapa …)

How + adjective + subject + to be :
a. How clever you are! (Betapa pandainya kamu)
b. How pretty the girl is! (Betapa cantiknya anak perempuan itu).
2. What … (Betapa …)
What a/an + adjective + singular noun (+ subject + to be):
a. What a beautiful dress it is! (Betapa bagusnya baju itu)
b. What a clever student you are! (Betapa pandainya kamu)
What + adjective + plural noun (+ subject + to be)
a. What beautiful dresses. (they are). (Betapa bagusnya baju-baju itu)
b. What pretty girls (they are). (Betapa cantiknya gadis-gadis itu).
Untuk membandingkan penggunaan “How. …” dan “What…” coba lihat tabel berikut
How clever you are! What a clever student you are!

How beautiful the dress is! What a beautiful dress it is!

How handsome the man is! What a handsome man he is!

How pretty the girls are! What pretty girls they are!

Besides using “How…” and “What …”, we can also use other expressions to express compliment,
admiration or praise. (selain menggunakan “What…” dan “How …”, kita bias menggunakan ungkapan
lain untuk menyatakan pujian”.
For example:
1. Excellent!
2. Well done!
3. Good job!
4. Great!
5. That’s amazing! (Hebat, luar biasa)
6. Fantastic!
7. Incredible!
8. Wonderful !
9. Marvellous!
10. This is the nicest house. (ini adalah rumah yg terbaik)
11. You have a beautiful house. (Anda punya rumah yg indah)
12. I like your hair style. (Saya suka model rambut anda).
13. I like your bag. (Saaya suka tas anda)
14. This soup is delicious. (Sup ini rasanya lezat)
15. You’re really a good cook. (Anda benar-benar juru masak yang baik).
16. This orange juice tastes wonderful. (Jus jeruk ini rasanya luar biasa)
