ABSTRACT
Humans in the Hindu viewpoint are unique, that is, with their intellect and mind,
humans are able to make themselves holy. In this case, it does not necessarily mean that the
sacred meaning in humans is obtained easily, it needs a long process and is based on faith
(sraddha). As the opinion of Abraham Maslow who said that humans have several needs, where
those needs are arranged in a hierarchy, because humans in fulfilling their needs run in stages,
starting from physiological needs in the form of primary needs, need for security, social needs,
need for appreciation, to actualization needs. . This actualization need is a need in the highest
position, this need covers the development of one's potential to become a better person. In
relation to Maslow's theory of needs, diksa is one of the actualizations of developing human
potential in Hinduism to become physically and spiritually pure. Diksa is a way to perfect
oneself in a perfect life phase, by carrying out diksa it is hoped that individuals can actualize
themselves in spreading dharma teachings for the people and the welfare of the world.
