To renew your F-4 VISA online, go to www.hikorea.go.

kr (you must use Microsoft Internet Explorer as the HiKorea website utilizes several XecureWeb PlugIns for security purposes. **You can only le an E-APPLICATION, on weekdays from 07:00 to 18:00 (Not available on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays).**

Create a pro le (if you dont already have one) by clicking on JOIN in the LOG IN panel. Once you have created your pro le, log into the website and click on the E-APPLICATION menu and click on FILE AN APPLICATION.

Once in the FILE AN E-APPLICATION menu, click on the Sojourn - Extension of sojourn period for Overseas Koreans (F-4) E-Application button. Please read the next screen in its entirety. The items I needed to submit were only my Passport image, VISA image (unexpired), F-4 identi cation card (but as it says, additional documents may be required upon request). You will need to scan and save your passport images and the front and back of your F-4 ID card into .png or .jpeg les. The system will not accept PDFs. You may choose to pay the 31,200 won fee by either domestic credit card or via your cellular phone bill.

Once you have read all the instructions; Agree to the conditions by checking the box, and clicking on the Apply (principal) radio box, to continue with the E-Application. If you click the Reserve radio box, then you will be reserving an appointment to appear in person at the Immigration O ce. This will take you to another screen and either advise you: (I cannot provide any further illustrations as I have already renewed my F-4) 1) You may only renew 60 days to 14 days prior to your F-4 expiration date (less than 14 days, you must appear in person. 2) If within the correct time frame, you will be taken to a screen where your information will be populated into several user input elds. The information should be the latest information you have provided previously to the Ministry of Justice. This is where you update any information you need to. You will also be asked for a reason for the extension. (Note: the reason I provided was F-4 VISA renewal. My application was processed in two days, but it may take up to 14 days.) Next, I uploaded the images of my F-4 identi cation card and my passport. Click the Con rm button, and it will take you to the payment instructions. This is where its tricky because most of it is in Korean. I utilized my domestic check card. Each bank has its own security protocols, so you will need to follow those respectively. You may also pay via your cellular phone bill. Once you have sucessfully made the application fee of 30,000 won + convenience fee of 1200 won (I looked at the convenience fee as cheaper than the subway ride and time), it will take you back to the screen where you veri ed and/or updated your information and uploaded your images. Click the SUBMIT button. It will con rm and advise you your application as been submitted. You will receive an email con rmation for the payment rst. The next email you will receive will be from the Ministry of Justice providing you notice your application has been recieved (you will not receive this immediately until the Immigration O cer physically accepts the application. The last email you will receive will be from the Ministry of Justice providing you notice your application has been Processed with the status of your extension. In my case it was Processed (Granted).

Once you receive the email stating your application has been Processed (Granted), log back onto www.hikorea.go.kr website. From here, you want to go to MY PAGE. From the MY PAGE webpage, click on STATUS OF APPLICATIONS.

Next click on Extension of sojourn period for Overseas Koreans (F-4)

From the details page, make sure you print out a copy of the Certi cate. If you do not get your F-4 ID card updated, you must provide the certi ciate with the ID card or Passport.
