FAST FACTS ABOUT CAST/STAT

CAST is the largest state science education conference in the nation. In 2008, 4,969 teachers attended our conference. In 2009, there were 5,944 attendees. By 2010, the number of attendees rose to 7,112, an increase of 43% in just two years. In February 2011, CAST was named the 2nd-fastest-growing conference in the nation in the area of attendance, and 11th in exhibit growth. The STAT website averaged over 100,000 page views per month between August and November. Each person visiting the site browsed for an average of 6.5 minutes and clicked about 6 links per person, including sponsorship logos to external websites. 76% of CAST attendees purchased items from our exhibitors and sponsors, with 23% spending over $100. 98.25% of our members rate STATs educational opportunities for members as above average with 85% recommending it as excellent. 85.11% of our teachers rated their overall experience at CAST as above average. 93% of our teachers say they will recommend CAST to a friend.

What is the Senator Royce West Scholarship?

With budgets tightening this year, the Science Teachers Association of Texas (STAT) wants to make sure that as many teachers as possible get the outstanding professional development that our annual Conference for the Advancement of Science Teaching (CAST) provides. Thats why were implementing the scholarship this year, hosted by Senator Royce West of Dallas District 23.

Whats in it for the teachers?

Your contribution of $500 gives your teachers recognition at the CAST opening reception, 3 days stipend for meals, 3 days paid parking fees at the convention center, and a free registration for the full 3-day conference.

Whats in it for you?

You will recieve recognition at the CAST opening reception with honorable mention in front of a crowd of thousands. If you commit to sponsor more than 5 teachers, a representative from your organization will receive stage time with the Senator as a special thank you for your generous contribution.
