4. They will have a lot to do, so they should be focused and working all
class.
b. When you finish the quiz, please write a constructed response to the two
questions below. These should be in the BODY of an email to me. Please
make sure to have a subject line. The questions are also located at yhs-
wooten.wikispaces.com/Intro+Unit
c. After you send your constructed response, please check your homework
answers from the Answer Key (attached). Pay careful attention to the 5 steps
shown. Finish the remaining 3 problems using that method. Check your
answers on the Answer Key. I'll check these next class.
d. Do Part 2 of the Density Investigation. Be sure to record all data. Use the
rules of data tables. Show all calculations. Use the 5-step method.
i. The materials are located on the front lab bench and in the
cabinets. Students know where triple beam balances and
graduated cylinders are. Students should return all
materials as they finish using them. Please stop them with
5 minutes of class left to clean up.
e. Homework: The attached homework sheet. This will also be handed out.
i. Please hand out the homework if students finish the
density work, or during the last 5 minutes of class.
Constructed Response Questions: Mass and Volume
Please type individual responses to these questions. You may have some discussion with
your table if you need to. Please email those responses to Ms. Wooten. Include an
appropriate subject line.
1. What are some factors that can cause error in measuring mass in the last lab? How
might you eliminate some of those errors?
2. You were asked to measure the volume of a golf ball with two different techniques, by
displacement and by a formula. Assuming you were able to measure them with as much
accuracy as possible with the tools given, which technique would you rely on to be a more
reliable answer? List the strengths and limitations of both techniques.
