HISTORY of ST.

LOUIS COLLEGE VALENZUELA

The school was first known as Fatima College Annex owned by Don Jose C. Olivares in 1978. When Mr. Jose C. Olivares passed away, the new administration decided to embark on a new path with Mr. Emmanuel J. Olivares as its new head. Thus, in 1979 the Philippine College of Technological Resources (PTRC) was born. From 1978 to 1984, Mr. Emmanuel Olivares took the leadership as first president. In 1984, Mrs. Agnes O. Luciano became the second president. Her philosophy was to organize a strong community of educators with a clear vision of purpose, with concerted efforts to achieve, equipped, versatile, adaptable and committed to assume the primary role of leaders as catalysts of change and development in their community, country and the global village. She was the responsible for the redirection of the existing courses and the provision of additional facilities and buildings, which we now enjoy and take pride of. During its early years from, secondary and tertiary programs were initially offered. Then, in 1986, a pre-school program was added, which was eventually followed by a program for the primary level just a year later. The first five years from 1978 to 1983, was highly critical and posed a challenge for the administration to decide on the course which can satisfy the requirements of a quality education within the capacity of the existing financial resources and manpower of the institution. The initial course offerings at that time were: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, Business Administration, Education, Arts and Sciences, Secretarial Courses, BS in Nutrition and Dietetics, and High School. Today, the academic programs include: Business Courses majors in Accounting, Management, Banking and Finance (1978); BS in Hotel and Restaurant Management (1994); BS in Office Management (2001); Computer Courses (1992); High School (1978); Elementary (1987); Preschool (1986); and Short Courses (1992). The year 1993 ushers the period of reconstruction, renovation of the old edifice and the construction of new one. More than the physical structures, these buildings likewise project the spirit of concern for quality education, care for the basic needs and effective communication among those who compose the PCTR community which will facilitate efficiency of work, harmonious relationship, creative planning, and tenacity in decision making. The historical main building was constructed in 1976, the third floor completed in 1983 and 1994 and finally the fourth floor in 1995. The annex building was constructed in 1980. The Leonora Juzgaya Building was built in 1993.

The construction of the new main canteen with six additional classrooms was completed in 1996. The canteen has air-conditioned room for the comfort and convenience of the faculty and staff. The construction of other facilities like chapel, school bench, school stage, and the faade were completed in 1997. And finally, the HRM Mini Hotel and food laboratory and air-conditioned classrooms were constructed and completed in 1998. PCTR, in an effort to further its previously held successes, adjoined with the St. Louis College Education System (SLES) in February 1997 under the CICM Congregation. That was when our school changed its name to St. Louis College Valenzuela committing itself to the ideals of an authentic Catholic institution all centered on the charism Sapientia (Wisdom), Veritas (Truth) and Caritas (Service). The school is steadily pursuing its primary goal which is to expand academic programs through both the students and faculty members through the St. Louis Educational System.
