The TX/RX are non functional. the radio has power, display frequency, squelch audio, but it can't transmit or receive. 2. lately it took less than 5min before the radio losses its transmit and receive. 3. Now its totally loss its transmit and receive. what can be wrong. I need help.

W9GB This could be any number of issues. # Such as: + dirty antenna realy contacts + thermal problem with a component + a failing electrolytic capacitor Troubleshooting requires: + Patience (if you become frustrated easily - seek professional help for your radio - before you abuse it) + Proper measurment tools (and knowledge to use them properly) + The service manual for the radio - to provide useful guideposts (voltages measures) - when radio is operting properly (a non-working radio is abnormal) A DVM or VOM can check circuits pathways (continuity) as well as measure voltages. w9gb

There is a known issue with the 725 that concerns failure of the relays that control the engagement of the various bandpass filters. This usually causes the rig to be dead on transmit but usually does not affect receive function. 73 George K3UD

If it is a heat related problem, get a can of cold spray, and/or a small hair drier, or one of those hot guns that are made especially for the job . ( Ungar used to make one, I remember ) You are going to want to cycle a suspected device between hot and cold, and that is one of the best ways I know to do it. The first thing you can do is look for signs of overheating components. You might notice an oder , or if you are very careful, you might be able to touch an IC or transistor and determine that it is running just waaaay too hot. Be very careful when applying the "thumb test", however. It is a real great way to brand yourself! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif It certainly doesn't hurt to have someone else around who has a solid background and experience in this sort of thing. Heat related and intermittent problems can be the most difficult and frustrating things to work on, known to man! Good luck, and 73, Jim

DV1SJL thanks again for all the help, #my tech friend is trying to resolder some component #in the regulator circuit he thinks it may only be a component cold solder. # # #We will also try jim suggestion, hope it works. i'll try to update its progress. 73, chito http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
