Introductions Give brief talk about my work history. Have a quick discussion about students work history. 5 mins. Course outline Hand out course outline and break up of marked projects. Go through required projects and timeline highlighting the marked projects and dates due. Explain penalties for late projects ie. 2% per day late. - 10 mins. Expectations This is a production shop as such you will be required to meet customer s expectations. I am the journeyman of the shop and will hand out detailed drawings of the customers required fittings. Projects should be built as per these specifications and will be marked as if exposed. Just as in a real production shop you will be expected to be here on time ready to work this includes having the correct P.P.E. and ready to follow all safe work practices as I will detail later. This also means you will be expected to work for a full 3 hours and at the end of each class a shop clean up is mandatory. Anyone who doesn t participate in a thorough clean up will lose 10% from their final mark. Hand out expectations sheet and refer to bullet points about expected behavior doctors notes etc. Any questions. 10 mins. Safety to be reinforced during walkthrough. Walkthrough to be determined after I have seen the shop. Fire exits, specific machines, tools and equipment details at later date. 30 mins. Take short break 5-10 mins. Laps and seams Lap seam -1w First piece is left raw. Second has allowance. Demo marking with an adjustable marking gauge, be sure to double check your measurements. Ensure spot welder is clean and sharpened to the correct size, and that it is set for gauge and tips line up etc. Demo spot welder point out good gold colour as opposed to poor spot weld with faded colour. Also touch briefly on pitch of spot weld. The seam should be spot welded evenly starting in the centre to avoid buckling of seam. Send class to practice. 20 mins. Single hem 1w Board demonstration. Quickly touch on adding allowances and show folding over a single hem. Demo on handbrake and/or bar folder. Send class to practice. 20 mins. Double hem 2w double seam board demo show with detail drawing the need for first bend to be 1 metal thickness less than . Specify that correct double hem will be exactly seam width when finished. Demo on handbrake and/or bar folder.

Send class to practice. 20 mins. Third hour Hammerlock 3w hammerlock. Mark on one side of metal then flip mark 1 on other side flip again and mark 2 . Demo on board folding procedure first bend at 2 bent up to 90 degrees. Second bend at 1 bend to approx 135 degrees. Third bend at at 90 degrees. Finish by squishing. Demo at brake, followed by quick demo of v-notchers. Students to practice. 30 mins. Duty roster hand out shop cleanup duty roster giving out specific clean up duties and responsibilities to each individual student name a foreman. Explain each clean up duty with each group ie. Sweeping, benches, bins etc. Perform clean up. 30mins Thank class for productive day and send home be available for 15 mins for questions etc.
