GEETMALA began as a half hour radio show in December, 1952. Seven outstanding fi
lm songs were randomly selected and featured in a competition format, with a jac
kpot of Rs. 100/- each week.
Ameen Sayani, who presented "Geetemala" for all its 45 years on radio, has narra
ted the story of the programme's phenomenal success in Volumes 21 to 25 take the
story of "Geetmala" forward peppered with amusing anecdotes, heart-warming nost
algia and immortal songs- particularly the beautiful numbers that trailed somewh
