INTRODUCTION

Mind mapping

For this assignment, I choose the Mind mapping method. I choose this method

because I think this is the most suitable method to solve the problem that I have

chosen. I choose this method because my problem has different factor and has relation

among each other. So in the mind mapping, it can be an item in more than one place,

and also create a cross-link it to several other items. Like example, the main problem

has their factor, and in one factor they have their sub factor, and actually the sub factor

also suitable for other factor.

Mind Mapping is a powerful but simple way of using diagrams to show

information in the same way you think. Mind Mapping makes it easy to understand,

remember, and communicate complex information. Sometimes our brains feel as if they

are scrambled because of information overload, overwhelm, or ineffective use of your

brain. This leads to make inability to solve problems effectively, lack of creative thought,

lack of focus, difficulty giving great presentations, poor communication, missing out

tasks when planning project, and also forgetting important information. You can use it to

organize your thoughts, solve problems, brainstorm new ideas, and give compelling

presentations.

HOW IT WORK

It work based on the map that we draw using own creativity based on the step to make

the map interesting and easily understand. The mind map actually must follow the step.

To draw a mind-map:

1. Putting a title in bold capital. Sometimes it suitable to use picture

2. Adding main branch around the title. Make sure that the branch is far

enough from the centre, also suitable to put picture that will represent

theme and concept. Make the mind map branch in different colour

because it is more relevant.

3. After second step, make the branch that related to the main branch. Make

sure that the branch is bold, bright, labels memorably and clear and

preferable in colour. The branch must include as many aids to recall, such

as picture and keywords.

4. After all the steps are followed, add some sub branch that are related.

Make the sub branch a short note that is simple and compact.

• It may be appropriate to put an item in more than one place, cross-link it to

several other items or show relationships between items on different branches.

Coding the colour, type of writing etc can do this. Alternatively you drawings in

place of writing may help bring the diagram to life.

EFFECT OF AIR POLLUTION

Air pollution is a major environmental health problem affecting the UTHM

University. The effects of air pollution on health are very complex as there are many

different sources and their individual effects vary from one to the other. It is not only the

ambient air quality in the cities but also the indoor air quality in the main or city campus

areas that are causing concern. In fact in the developing world the highest air pollution

exposures occur in the indoor environment. Air pollutants that are inhaled have serious

impact on human health affecting the lungs and the respiratory system.

The problem that UTHM student face every day is the air pollution. I can say that

because many factor that contribute to this air pollution like construction area and also

vehicle and the main factor is the smoke from the Evergreen factory near the UTHM

campus that are passionate to get profit until neglected the environment because they

spread the smoke and disturbing the air environment.

From this pollution effect, some of students are likely obtain irritate the eyes and

vomited. Some of student also gets the skin diseases like the skin peel off, rash and

turn reddish. The students also get affected from their outdoor activities. Some of the

activities are in evening. Their playing game especially basketball in the court but the

court is nearer to the factory. It can be exposed into the risk.

The effect also that comes from the air pollution is the student also has closed

the door and window because they did not care to smell the bad air pollution. This

would happen in 24 hours. The forth problems are the student also have problem under

hanging the clothes outside the room and forcing to hang the clothes inside the room.

The clothes turn to smelly when it dry. Also the clothes are look like a yellowish because

the factory spread a plywood dust.

Another effect of air pollution is in the building. It is like the phenomenon of acid

rain. The acid rain may damage some building in the electrical and mechanical faculty

when the wall is cracked.

WAY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM

Administration

Some action must be taken to reduce this problem. The administration must take

their responsibility to make the problem are settle. The administration a can say must

discuss and make some agreement with the factory companies to schedule the

production. The student can be satisfied if the factory can spread the dust outside their

activities like example around 3 a.m where some of the students are already sleep. I

think this is the best way to reduce the smoke and also reduce the risks that come from

the smoke. When someone sleeping, the already close the door and window and also

the laundry are already in the cupboard.

Second way to reduce the air pollution is stunt plants grow. This is important to

the student because the plant can reduce the air pollution effect. The plants can filter

the chemical things that are carried from the smoke. So the student can absorb the

good air. I can say this way can be done because the plant is no need to custodian. The

plant can live easily especially the bigger plant.

The third way that the administration would done are reduces agricultural crop

yields. This is important because the student needs to make the respiratory in better

ways. When the agricultures are existed, the students can symbiosis with the plant. We

can absorb the oxygen and also the plant can absorbed the carbon dioxide.

The fourth way is make the construction area nearer the university campus

because the sand and soil that would spread into student residential. This would

happened because the construction building need to cultivate the piling and also the

lorry which carrying the sand, soil and also stone and also cements. So sometimes the

soils jar and spread the dust. I can say make the construction outside the prime time

where the students are outside the campus.

MPP

The “Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar (MPP)”, one of the organizations that are function

to delivering the comment and also message from student to the administration actually

can give their responsibility. Like example, make a memorandum with a signature from

all students as a sign that the student would not happy with the condition and want to

protest. This actually can be done if all students and the administration like “Hal Ehwal

Pelajar” cooperate successfully.

The MPP also can get the Department of Environment (JAS) to asking the

factory certification. The MPP’s would ask the better way to reduce the air pollution also

cooperate with the JAS to make the seminar about way to avoid the air pollution. This

helps all students to know the effect of the air pollution and also the way to reduce the

risks of air pollution.

Student and staff

The student also must take their alternative to solve this problem. The student

actually must take some precaution to reduce the effect from air pollution. First,

encourage to walk to the neighbourhood market. This helps the student to decrease

living in the open space.

Second, reduce to use vehicle like car around the UTHM especially in a climax

time. This is because when using the car frequently, it contribute higher amount of

pollution. Take the alternatives to share the vehicle of other student to reduce the

production of smoke. Like example, when we are lodge or carpool with friends and

coworkers into one car, it produces less smoke than when we use car each other. This

can be done when the entire student responded to their responsibility. As the alternative

the student are advised to take the bicycle as the main transport. This is the better way

to reduce the pollution. Students are lazy to ride a bicycle because they feel low profile

when use a bicycle.

When someone using the car of other motor vehicle, make sure the filter are

always be replace. The car also drive accelerates slowly and errands at one time. The

student can use public’s form of transport to campus. Actually the buses that carry the

entire student are sophisticated and comfortable. Student also prohibited using the

clean fueled vehicle and tuning up motor vehicle. For those who are driving the car, I

advised to turn off the car when the car is not in a motion. This will reduce the smoke

spread into air. Walking from one place to another place also can reduce the pollution.

Although this is not productive, it can save our environment and keep our healthy.

The student also can reduce the pollution when they reduce the aerosol things.

This problem is related to the ozone. Ozone can irritate lungs and airways, and cause

inflammation much like sunburn on your lungs. Student also can make a small plant as

a adopt child. This good for their respiratory and also the plant can filter the bad

chemical thing which are contain in the air. Student can limit the industrial waste like

plastic. The plastic and all types of industrial waste are dangerous. It can disturbing the

ozone and also can disturbing the respiratory

CONCLUSION

Throughout this assignment, I can conclude that they are more effective to use

mind mapping and all other creative thinking method to solve the problem. The problem

is easily than when using the method because we know how the way to solve the

problem. We also know the step and the suitable method to solve the problem. The

mind mapping make easier to understand. It is so powerful but simple. It helps me to

create new idea that I did not I remember. The mind mapping method is suitable

because it can be inserted all the information that are related with the problem. The

method is ideally organized over a number of meetings, enabling the team to become

deeply immersed in the problem. Fresh suggestions regarding possible causes can

arise during the break and members are more likely to forget who originated every idea.

I will recommend this method to other people who are facing the problem and did not

know where are beginning to solve the problem because it easier and proactive
