Contraindications/warnings/interactions Hypersensitivity; first trimester
of pregnancy; history of blood dyscrasias; history of seizures; severe hepatic
impairment; pregnancy; lacatation; patients receiving corticosteroids or
predisposed to edema.
Common side effects Seizures; dizziness; headache; abdominal pain;
anorexia; nausea; diarrhea; dry mouth; furry tongue; glossitis; unpleasant
taste; vomiting; rashes; urticaria; leukopeniz; phlebitis at IV site;
peripheral neuropathy; superinfection; disulfiram-type reaction with alcohol

Vital signs; appearance of wound, sputum,urine,
and stool; WBC and beginning of and throughout
therapy. Allergy to medication

Lab value alterations caused by medicine
Be sure to teach the patient the following about this medication
Complete medication therapy. Patients treated for trichomoniasis sould use a
condom to prevent reinfection. Avoid alcohol products. Good oral hygiene and
sugarless gum or candy to reduce dry mouth. Urine may turn dark. Report signs
of black, furry overgrowth on tongue; vaginal itching or discharge; loose or
foul-smelling stools.
