Diesel-like economy with petrol refinement and performance combine to make this compact model incredible value with prices starting at 11,150.
NISSAN has released the prices for its new highlyadvanced, Micra DIG-S. Representing the latest in low-emission engine technology, it offers the performance of a bigger petrol engine but with the fuel economy of a diesel. The ultra low emission 1.2-litre, three cylinder supercharged petrol engine emits only 95g/km for the Visia version and 99g/km for the betterequipped Acenta and Tekna models. Official fuel consumption is 68.9mpg or 65.7mpg on the combined cycle, beating some similarly sized diesel models. Unlike most economy models though, the DIG-S also has a performance boost, with power rising from 80PS to 98PS. The cost of this groundbreaking technology? The DIG-S costs just 1,000 more than the equivalent, non-supercharged version; much less than the price premiums charged by many rivals for equivalent diesel versions. Owners will also see savings at the pumps, with
With competitive equipment levels and relaxed driving position, Mitsubishi ASX offers more than sufficient responsiveness and roadholding for a family vehicle
MITSUBISHIS visibility is phenomenal. For a manufacturer with a limited presence in the UK, its vehicles have huge presence on the road. The distinctive trait of a huge, aggressive grille means Mitsubishi's passenger cars can be recognised from some distance. The ASX it stands for Active Sports Crossover uses the Jet Fighter grille, sloping bonnet profile and angular front light units to great effect. The flared arches and sweeping line along the profile to the rear lights also help give it a more insistent presence. Two and four-wheel drive plus three trim levels offers a reasonable degree of choice, but the option of a single diesel and single petrol unit seems a little restrictive at first. Fortunately this isnt the case. With a stop-start system across the range a small engine line-up can deliver both the economy and performance required. The 1.8-litre turbocharged diesel unit offers a respectable 148bhp and 221lb/ft of torque, with CO2
Sporty stand-out
emissions pegged at 145g/km for the two-wheel drive platform that the company expects to be vastly more popular than the four-wheel drive variant, with 150g/km emissions. Performance from the 1.6litre, 115bhp petrol is less brisk, but emissions are 135g/km a better performance against its equivalent competitors than the diesel. On the road, the diesel doesn't lag behind its rivals. The model rides very comfortably and competently, while offering more than sufficient responsiveness and roadholding for a family vehicle. There's more body roll than in some of the ASXs direct rivals, but not enough to detract from the driving experience and the weighty steering is direct and rewarding. Theres some wind noise, but the diesel unit remains hushed with the exception of some turbo whistle. Equipment levels are competitive, with the option of a full length glass roof and the top spec model receiving satnav and a reversing camera. Most noticeable inside, however, is the space. The wide boot door offers easy access to the well proportioned boot space. For the latest offers and deals, visit Fownhope Mitsubishi at 240 Kings Acre Road, Hereford HR4 0SD or call 01432 273791.

Fir Tree Garage goes from strength to strength with two iconic fourwheel drive brands on one great site
HEREFORD Land Rover has celebrated its 25th annivesary at Much Cowarne, but is proud to have been associated with the iconic brand for even longer than that. The business traces its roots back to 1954 in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, where, still in the same family ownership,
it trades as Five Acres garage. It was 29 years ago, in 1982, that the association with Land Rover began. The owners, the Jenkins family, bought a Land Rover dealership in Ross-on-Wye but it soon outgrew the site. The decision was taken to leave the Rover part of the business in Ross and move Land Rover sales to what was then the Fir Tree Garage in Much Cowarne. It opened for business on June 4, 1986. A decade later the present premises were built and the dealership changed its name
to Hereford Land Rover. This was done to take account of the everincreasing sales of Land Rover vehicles. By then the iconic brand included the successful Discovery and it was soon followed by the hugely popular Freelander. Next year managing director Nick Jenkins will be celebrating an anniversary of his own. He will have been selling Land Rovers in Herefordshire for 30 years. Paul Greenfield, sales manager at Hereford Land Rover said: The brand goes from strength to strength and we are
delighted that we have been able to represent Land Rover in Herefordshire for all this time. And in its most recent development, Fir Tree is proud to add Hereford and Worcesters Chrysler Jeep main dealer to its site. Paul said: We are all looking forward to continuing our success in the future with both Land Rover and Chrysler Jeep. For more details, call Hereford Land Rover on 01531 640746 or Hereford and Worcester Chrysler Jeep on 01531 641123.
