EF Zhengzhous First Standardized Demonstration Class Instructions Foreign Teachers: Do, essentially, this.

It is easy and has a good conversion rate. Allow the student and parent to watch an episode. c. Open Life Club Challenge and demonstrate a dance pad game. Allow the student to play. Five minutes before the demo; 7. Open the Demo Guidelines PPT. 8. Stress that this demonstration class is just a demonstration of some teaching techniques; we cant guarantee results. During the demo; 9. Dont translate unless asked to. We want the parents to observe their children interacting with our foreign teachers. 10. Smile even if the teacher is kicking students. 11. Stand near the parents and mind the parents. Help usher people in and out of the Life Club Zone with minimal fuss. Note: I do not want anybody bothering a Course Consultant who is assisting a class. After the demo; 12. 13. 14. 15. Smile and assure the parents that your talk is going to be brief youre going to explain what the teacher just did. Explain what the teacher just did. Parents Pages. CCUs. Show them a few things briefly and run with what they seem interested in.

Foreign Teachers Ten minutes before the demo, check that there is enough seating in the Life Club Zone. It is clean. I highly suggest bringing a magic box, too. Disarm the students. Make them feel comfortable. Some students may be young or afraid of foreign teachers. Seat yourself low. Say Hi or Hello to the students. Smile broadly if you get a response. Hang your head in shame if you dont. Introduce yourself. My name is Renato. Not potato. Renato. Tip I: If students are afraid to interact with you, focus their attention on something familiar tea or stickers. Tip II: If all else fails you could start drawing things on the whiteboard. Introduce the topic. Parents are expecting to learn something about Christmas or Kwanzaa or Valentines Day. If you have flash cards: Today, we are talking about Easter. What is Easter? Cycle through the cards and correct pronunciation. Drill the words or simple sentence patterns. Increasing drill difficulty: Ask students to create sentences from the words. Ask questions about the cards is Santa fat or thin? Ask questions about the topic do you like Easter? Describe cards and have the students guess. If you dont have flash cards: Write Easter on the board. Ask What is Easter? Elicit or draw Easter related items on the board. Drill the words or simple sentence patterns. Going easy on the kids: Ask Whats this? and point to your nose. Eyes. Ears. Ask the students to do as you say. Touch your Ask the students to do as you say not as you do. Draw a comical face on the board with student help.

Increase the difficulty of the drills or switch to an easier activity (if the children struggled with the vocabulary).

Tip: If students are bored after either set of activities try playing Jump one time. Jump two times. Five times. Review the topic. Parents want to see that the students have retained and learned something. If you have flash cards: Have students name all of the cards quickly. Show students the blank sides of the cards. Play slow reveal or guess the card. Play jump to with one or more students. Finish neatly by delighting students and parents. Tell parents that this was just a simple demonstration of some teaching techniques we use. Make eye contact with students and parents. Nice to meet you. Thank you for coming. Have the students line up. Lead them to the iLab computers. Be available for placement tests. Smile. Tip I: Nice to meet you is where I shake hands or do high-fives. Save your best crowd pleaser for the end here. Tip II: Ask the front desk staff to clear the iLab computers before leading children there. Tip III: Follow up on students after their placement tests.
