St Pauls College

A Christ-centred community valuing people and learning

A word from the Chairman Our Aims
Lutheran schools aim to encourage and support students, informed and sustained by the Word of God, to develop their God given talents so that they may shape and enrich their world. As a Lutheran school, St Pauls College was established in the conviction that unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labour in vain (Psalm 127:1). This means that the gospel of Jesus Christ must inform all learning, teaching, human relationships and activities so that young people can be prepared for their fullest and best lives. St Pauls College aims to provide an education that is complete, distinctive and of quality by: Promoting and nurturing the Christian faith. Educating students in body, mind and soul. Developing excellence in each child. Actively demonstrating that each person is of worth and has dignity. Equipping students to be good citizens of St Pauls and their communities.

A word from our Principal

The development of the strategic plan for 2008-2013 has been the result of considerable effort on the part of the school community. This has included contribution to consultation, surveys and the planning workshop. On behalf of the School Board, I would like to thank all those that assisted in the planning process. The last five years has seen a significant change to the appearance at St Pauls College. The central focus was the development and improvement of facilities. Going forward, we are placing emphasis in new areas. We are focussing on our people staff, students and college community. While we will continue to develop physical assets, we want to strengthen the key areas that are our reason for existence; our Christian Community, our Educational outcomes and, importantly, the personal and spiritual growth of our students. St Pauls College relies on the support and contribution of all members our school community. We ask for, and look forward to, your support as we implement our strategic plan. Mr Andrew Kotzur

centred community valuing people and learning.

St Pauls was established 60 years ago, first and foremost, for the purpose of providing a Christian education. Our history over the years has been one of challenge and meeting these challenges. The purpose of this latest strategic planning exercise is to orient ourselves and direct our activities toward our vision - St Pauls, a Christ-

As a school we are committed to Ministry Teaching the Word of God Providing opportunities for worship and faith development Supporting our students, families and staff Learning Providing opportunities for all to reach their potential The development of the whole person Quality teaching A well resourced learning environment Community Maintaining a safe, rural environment Providing full and weekly boarding Celebrating our achievements Engaging with local communities Governance Leadership and Integrity Accountability and Transparency Stewardship and Efficiency

Our world, learning and Christian education is very different from that of the 1940s and the 1950s. It is to our advantage that we belong to a network of 83 Lutheran schools educating over 35,000 students. Our strength lies also in our people, and ultimately, we will be judged as a school by the calibre of our students. Therefore, this plan goes beyond the bricks and mortar that formed a necessary part of the previous plan, to the building of community and strong relationships by focusing on the growth of each individual. Our vision can become a reality, and it is with your support that we move into the next five years. Dr Barry Krueger
