Oracle will continue to invest in the E-Business Suite in the future. At OpenWorld 2009, Larry announced at least 10 more years of R&D investment for the AppsUnlimited product lines. Subsequent point releases beyond 12.1 are already planned and development is under way to deliver these ongoing point releases that customers will be able to consume without a major upgrade effort.

11i10 was released in November 2004, release 12 in January 2007, 12.1 in May 2009, and 12.1.2 in December of 2009. These releases reflect 6 plus years of development advances that 11i customers have not yet taken advantage of. It is important to reassure customers that Oracles commitment to their EBusiness Suite investment is continuing into the future, not only through the delivery of major releases like 12 and 12.1, but also by delivering ongoing and easily digestible point releases. For example, 12.1.3 is targeted for the latter part of CY2010.

2. QUALITY: Achieve quality results proven from many successfully completed implementations
Customer adoption for Release 12.x is strong. There are many customers who have already completed their upgrade to EBS12.x, or are currently in the process of implementing. See customer success section below for examples. Customers have achieved predictable results from their upgrade projects. Customers across all industries (manufacturing, public sector, financial services, Telco, engineering & construction, etc.) are successfully running their businesses on 12.x. These customers range in size from midmarket to large enterprises, and have implemented various product families in the E-Business Suite portfolio.

EBS 12.1 is a stable release. Any quality issues with Financials 12 have been completely addressed.

The best proof point of 12.1s quality is through customer success stories. For example, Chicago Public Schools implemented 12.1 in 6 months. See additional customer success stories below.
quality issues should now be addressed. The reference survey respondents were all R12 customers, and their rankings did not indicate major concerns. One reference specifically commented on having seen quality improvements as they moved from 12.0.4 to 12.0.6. - Nigel Rayner, June 2009, Gartner Core Financials Marketscope (Note that Nigel Rayner is the lead Gartner analyst for Financials)

3. ROADMAP: Choose the roadmap with product options and support policies that enable your business strategy
Premier Support for EBS 11.5.10 ends in November 2010, while Premier Support for EBS 11.5.9 ended in June 2008. Customers on 11.5.10 have the option of purchasing Extended Support for an additional fee. As an added benefit, the additional fees for the first year of Extended Support are waived (from November 2010 to November 2011). Customers should be reviewing their upgrade strategies now. With Premier Support ending on November 2010, customers can elect to go on Extended Support in order to provide sufficient time to plan and execute the upgrade. As a further incentive and in response to user group feedback, Oracle is waiving the fees for the first year of Extended Support for customers on 11i10 to encourage them to focus on their EBS upgrade efforts in the next 6-18 months. (Waiver of Extended Support Fees FAQ) Extended Support fees are calculated as a 20% uplift over a customers current Premier Support fees. For example, if Premier Support fees are 22% of license,

then Extended Support will be roughly 26% of license. The best way to take advantage of Fusion Applications in the future is to stay current on the latest Applications Unlimited releases. Fusion Applications are designed to co-exist with current Applications Unlimited investments, allowing customers to enjoy the benefits of new capabilities and to seamlessly evolve their applications architecture over time. A common customer question is whether to stay on EBS 11i and then upgrade directly to Fusion Applications when it is available. For most customers, the optimal strategy is to upgrade to EBS 12.1 first and then consider the additional value offered by Fusion Applications when it is released. Fusion Applications and Applications Unlimited product lines are not an either/or scenario. Both Fusion Applications and Application Unlimited use Fusion Middleware as its technology foundation. By staying current on EBS 12.1 and implementing Fusion Middleware, customers are already on the path to Fusion. Programs like Oracle Consultings Upgrade Value Assessment help customers assess their upgrade options and the benefit of new capabilities in 12.1. Provided by Oracle Support Services, utilities such as the Upgrade Assistant takes customers through the upgrade with methodical and repeatable steps that ensure a smooth upgrade project.

Oracle provides many tools and programs to help customers evaluate, plan, and execute their upgrade roadmap.
