Copolymers of methyl methacrylate with N,N-dimethylacrylamide were synthesized by a charge transfer mechanism using a mixture of n-butylamine and carbon tetrachloride as initiator in dimethyl-sulphoxide at 60. The compositions of the copolymers were established by elemental analysis. The reactivity ratios were determined by both Fineman-Ross and Kelen-Tds methods. The copolymers were characterized by i.r, 1HNMR,
13

C-NMR and thermal studies. The solubility parameter of the copolymer was

evaluated by studying the intrinsic viscosity in various solvents. To whom all correspondence should be addressed.

Abstract Copolymers of N,N-dimethyl acrylamide (DMA) and isopropylmethacrylate (IPM) were prepared in dimethyl formamide using azoisobutyronitrile as initiator. The composition of copolymers was determined by 1H-NMR analysis. Reactivity ratios (rDMA = 0.58, rIPM = 2.76) were calculated from these values by using the Kelen-Tds differential linear equation. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Reactivity ratios and thermal and dielectric studies of copolymers of acrylamide with butyl methacrylate B. Abstract Free radical copolymerization of acrylamide with butyl methacrylate was carried out in the presence of 2,2-azobisisobutyronitrile in dimethyl formamide at 60. The compositions of copolymers were determined from their nitrogen contents. Reactivity ratios were calculated by the Fineman-Ross and Kelen-Tds methods. The copolymers were characterized by i.r., 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR, and by thermal and dielectric studies. Glass transition temperatures were determined by DSC. Molecular weights of the copolymers were of the order of 105. Polymer-Plastics Technology and Engineering, Volume 38, Issue 5 November 1999 , pages 967 - 977 Abstract The graft copolymerization of maleic anhydride (MAH) onto a acryloni-trile-butadienestyrene (ABS) terpolymer was carried out using benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as an initiator and toluene as a solvent. The effects of various parameters such as monomer concentration, initiator concentration, reaction time, and temperature on graft yield were studied. Addition occurs in the butadiene region of the polymer, either by the loss of vinylic hydrogen and subsequent radical formation and addition of monomer or by addition to the double bond. The graft copolymers were characterized by infrared, thermogravirnetric analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry. Thermal stability was improved and Tg was increased. Polymer-Plastics Technology and Engineering, Volume 38, Issue 2 April 1999 , pages 311 - 318 Abstract

Six different ratios of blends from nylon-12 and acrylonitrile-butadi-ene-styrene (ABS) were prepared by the melt mixing technique. Thermal analysis of these blends were carried out by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis. It has been observed that the blend ratios such as 70/30 and 60/40 of nylon-12/ABS were more compatible in comparison with other blend ratios. It is evident from the values of glass transition temperature and activation energy. Thermogravimetric analysis shows a decreasing trend of pyrolysis temperature of these blends with the increase in ABS concentration. The melt-flow index and density data are found to indicate better physical and flow characteristics in the blend compared to pure nylon-12.
