Here we would like to evaluate as to what we observed at the foremost approach concerning your Learning Common s student satisfaction level. As to assist you better, We are delivering the data report illustrating your current situation of Learning Commons at Trafalgar Campus, Sheridan College. Here are some of the particulars that we have perceived. SITE/LOCATION The Learning Commons is centrally located and easily accessible in the C wing of Trafalgar campus at Sheridan College. It is situated just passing across the Tim Horton in C wing and just beside the entrance to E wing. The Learning Commons is opened throughout the day from early mornings till late midnight for students use. But the staff is available only during the college operation hours and with the

ORGANISTAION INFO The Learning Commons is operated under Sweeney Marsh, the Head Librarian and owned by Sheridan College as a whole. It acts as an integral part of Sheridan s educational offerings. The Learning Commons supports and enhances teaching and learning by providing one-stop assistance to all students with all their information and research needs. It employs 4-5 staff members to help assist the students in working together and making appoints for the group study rooms so as to make the service better. Sweeney Marsh is the Head and Learning Commons is most operated under Elizabeth Schembri. CLIENT BASE Your Learning commons brings together in one place the services that support students in their learning, writing and research. Since the Learning Commons is the state of art designed with students comfort, convenience and stimulation in mind, the Learning Commons at your Trafalgar Campus provides that comfort to over 10,000 full time students and part time along with continuing education students. It also provides assistance to the faculty and everyday members of general public. The Learning commons provides togetherness to a group of students program mix which includes Business, Arts and Animation, Computer and Engineering as per as Community and Liberal studies students.

FACILITIES Your Learning Commons afford a way more services other than just one common place for the students. It delivers services such as Quiet study rooms, Group study rooms, computer work stations and laptop hook-ups, a variety of open and closed spaces, with comfortable lounge seating, for group or individual study, staff to help find research materials for assignments, assist students with software and

technology questions, and provide them with academic support service and access to electronic resources (books, articles, encyclopedias, etc) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and Security as well. It also delivers the following services such as:

variety of databases covering most of the subjects/programs offered at Sheridan online software tutorials (over 400 titles) Reference Works (an online citation management system) Library's online catalogue for locating learning resources including books, videos, DVDs, etc. Web chat with Library staff for research assistance instruction on how to 'cite sources' tutorials on how to use our databases orientation tours in-class and individual research instruction, with advice about plagiarism and copyright law tutoring services an online booking system for Learning Commons group study rooms wireless connectivity Microsoft Office suite Printing and much, much more

Basically, Your Learning Commons brings together in one place the services that support students in their learning, writing, research, and use of information technology. Your goal is to provide students all the resources and tools necessary for academic success. Your Learning Commons at Trafalgar Campus not only encourages but enables collaboration, discussion, and peer learning. DESIGN Your Learning Commons is designed efficiently, is convenient and comfortable for the students to work on projects and other academic work. It is open and wide computer workstations set up in the whole area. All through the hallway are constructed group study rooms for projects with TV s installed in each room and comfortable professional sitting inside the rooms with A/V equipment and white

boards for the use of students. Apart from this, quiet study rooms are designed in a way that each student can occupy their own space for very quiet study. At your Trafalgar campus, the quiet study rooms are numbered as C148b and C140a. The Learning Commons is based on the concept already available at CSU s Australian campuses and is able to accommodate more than 100 students in a variety of semi-formal and informal settings. Wireless internet access and convenient table-top power points for laptops are available to all users. The space also provides students with access to projection facilities for presentations and practice sessions, along with more efficient printing and photocopying amenities. LEARNING COMMONS ETHICS AND MORALS Learning Commons is a flexible and responsive approach to help schools focus on learning collaboratively. It expands the learning experience, taking students and educators into virtual spaces beyond the walls of a school. A Learning Commons is a vibrant, whole-school approach, presenting exciting opportunities for collaboration among teachers, teacher-librarians and students. Within a Learning Commons, new relationships are formed between learners, new technologies are realized and utilized, and both students and educators prepare for the future as they learn new ways to learn.At Sheridan Learning Commons, Your mission is to provide an innovative, learning-centered environment that maximizes individual and group teaching and learning by integrating academic support services, resources, technology, and information literacy instruction to promote collaboration and academic excellence among students.
