WELL-SITE TRIP
Objectives
At the end of this presentation, you will be able to describe:
The procedure for mobilizing a job in the location. The documents that the engineer completes before going on the job (e.g. Journey Mgmt, Radioactive transport). What is a briefing; who attends it; what is discussed in the briefing. How the tools are transported to the Wellsite . What is discussed at the meeting with the Company representative/Wellsite witness . What is discussed in the safety meeting at the Wellsite before the job. The rig-up; describe which components are attached to the rig and/or unit and the proper method for doing. How the tools are rigged up (and the sources loaded) and lowered into the well.

Objectives
At the end of this presentation, you will be able to describe:
How the engineer checks the quality of the log or verifies success of operation (e.g. Perforation/Plug) . What the engineer delivers at the Wellsite (or transmits). What documents are signed by the Wellsite representative What is done to the tools/equipment when returning to the base, how are they serviced and checked. What is a de-briefing; what is discussed; what documents are presented and discussed. What data or packages are delivered. How are they put together. Describe the role of the people on the rig, they type of rigs we may go to and the type of unit that we will use. {Enter in Quest, the safety meeting carried out on the rig and 1 RIR relating to a hazard that you observed.}

PRE-JOB preparation
The Pre-job is arguably the most critical phase of the operation. Here the tools and equipment are prepared, checked, calibrated and serviced. Plans are put in place to ensure that all conceivable problems and issues are anticipated and addressed. It is the time to get yourself technically trained and ready to deliver to the clients expectations. Most of the problems at the well-site are linked to Poor Prejob planning.
Job Execution
This is the part when we go to the clients well and carry out the operation that has been requested. Here, it is critical to carry out the job efficiently and to the clients expectations (and hopefully to exceed expectations) This is also where safety is a critical concern. You will be responsible for the safety of your crews and the client personnel involved in your operations. Here, you must deliver technically the service that you have promised to the client. You are the FACE of Schlumberger during this phase
POST-JOB tasks
This is after coming back from the job to the base. Here the equipment is serviced and checked to make sure that it is fit for future operations. Equipment or tools that have failed or have been damaged must be reported and their maintenance must be followed up. The data or materials that need to go to the client are usually prepared and delivered (this may have been done at the well site.

PRE-JOB Preparation
This phase is considered the most important in terms of delivering the superior service quality that our clients expect from us.

This is a PRACTICAL task that you will learn by participating fully in the operation. The purpose of this slide is to provide you with a checklist of things to observe.
What is the procedure for mobilizing a job in the location. Who decides the equipment and people going to a job. What documents does the engineer complete before going on the job (e.g. Journey Mgmt, Radioactive transport etc.). What is a briefing; who attends it; what is discussed in the briefing. What maintenance is done to the tools and equipment. What is a RITE BOARD and how is it used. How does the engineer check that the tools are ready for the job. How are the tools are transported to the Well-site.

Understanding and participating in these tasks will help you to become familiar with the operations and procedures. Go out there and get involved.

Job Execution
This is a PRACTICAL task that you will learn by participating fully in the operation. The purpose of these slides is to provide you with some back-ground about rig operations and the people you will meet.
What is discussed in the safety meeting at the Wellsite before the job. Describe the role of the people on the rig. What information do you receive from the Company Man, the Geologist or Witness, the Mud Engineer, Driller etc. The rig-up; describe which components are attached to the rig and/or unit and the proper method for doing. How the tools are rigged up (and the sources loaded) and lowered into the well. What is a Z-chart, how is it completed and by whom . How the engineer checks the quality of the log or verifies success of operation (e.g. Perforation/Plug) . What the engineer delivers at the Well site (or transmits). What documents are signed by the Well site representative
Understanding and participating in these tasks will help you to become familiar with RIG operations and procedures.

A land rig can be found anywhere on the planet. It can be in a jungle or on top of a mountain, in the desert sands or in the middle of city. Wherever the rig is placed, a large area must be cleared to facilitate the operations.

How will you get to the office? You will nearly always fly to the rigs on helicopters.

The OFFSHORE INSTALLATION MANAGER (OIM) is the most senior member of management on many larger Drilling Rigs particularly large jack-ups and platforms and some semi-submersibles. On smaller rigs the Tool Pusher will usually be the most senior member of management, but will work under the OIM when one is present. The TOOL PUSHER is the person responsible for all operations on a Drilling Rig. They are also known as rig managers. Tool pushers are in charge of keeping the rig and all necessary tools and equipment, supplies, etc. They work closely in conjunction with the company man in regards to the actual drilling of the well. Tool-pushers also take on an administrative role. Usually a tool pusher has started at the bottom and worked his way up and has been in the industry for a number of years.

Derrick-man reports directly to the Driller. The name derrick man comes
from the position that he normally occupies, which is at the top of the Derrick. From this position, he guides the stands of drill-pipe (typically 90 ft long) into the fingers at the top of the derrick while tripping out of the hole. When tripping into the hole he will pull the pipe out of the fingers and guide it into the top drive or the block.

MUD Logger
A mudlogger tasked with gathering data and collecting samples during the drilling of a well and organizing this information in the form of a graphic log, showing the data charted on a graphic representation of the wellbore. Mudloggers observe and interpret the indicators in the mud returns during the drilling process. The mudlogger logs at regular intervals, properties such as drilling rate, mud weight, flow line temperature, natural gas content and type, oil indicators, pump pressure, pump rate, lithology (rock type) of the drill cuttings, and various other items of interest
Oil companies use geologists' to help them locate oil and Gas deposits. They will look at the Data from the well such as the mud-logs and the Wireline logs and make sure that the geological objectives of the well are met. He may be the witness of the Wireline log. The Geologist will give you the technical information to help you set parameters for the operation.
