What is my purpose or goal? Do I stick to the primary purpose or goal while on a social network and log off immediately afterwards? Security and Privacy Issues You are putting your name, location, gender, age and other information on the in ternet that you dont necessarily want other people to know about.As long as peopl e can know who you exactly are, then some can find ways to do you harm. Has information about me been leaked (such as phone number, address, email addre ss, posts, birthday) without my consent? Is your birthdate displayed in your profile? Have you ever used your birthdate a s a password for your bank account, business accounts, pin numbers, work passwor d, or for another social networking service? Do you realize that your DOB is oft en used to identify you over the phone by your bank, doctors, insurance agency a nd other companies that you do business with? Why give that out to just anyone b y posting it on your profile? Have you read the most recent TOS (Terms of Service) of all your social networki ng sites? Do you really agree with what they do with your personal information? If you haven t read the current TOS, did you read the original TOS when you first signed up? or any TOS ever? Do you know what other users can see when searching for you or looking at your p rofile? Do you understand your security/privacy settings? Did you realize that your privacy setting can be changed by the social network w ithout your permission (usually the TOS reserves this right for the network)? Did you know that the TOS can legally give the ownership of your personal inform ation, pictures, and posts to the social network? And that even if you delete yo ur information, pictures, posts, -and even your entire profile, the social netwo rk may have the right to keep a back up of the file or even keep it on display? Have you ever posted that you were going out of town or that you were out of tow n? Or posted that you weren t home or were some place other than home? (i.e. Enjoyi ng a day at the beach ) This could leave yourself open to someone taking advantage of your absence?
